    TeslaFi.com

I don't see why Tesla would have purposely taken it out of service mode when taking it for more service, and the ability to turn off remote access is hardly a secret trick that only Tesla can do. The most likely explanation is that remote access is off. That said, the other explanation is that...

As a matter of course, Tesla disable remote access whenever a car is in for service. They also tend to unplug dashcams. Without root access there's not much you can do about it. (and even with root, they still unplug the dashcam)

Whats the largest Power Inverter you can use in a Tesla?

Mine is not a pure sine inverter, it's a 1000w inverter, I can't remember the brand (and would have to take a wheel off to check) It was something I picked up at Canadian Tire (large all-purpose hardware/housewares/automotive supply chain here) I used 4 AWG wire directly to the 12V battery posts...

Should FSDC (Full Self-Driving Capabilities) be an option right now?

The immoral part is implying that the car will ever be capable of driving itself without human intervention while not providing the hardware necessary to do so. But hey, they got away with making false claims on AP1, so why not do it again on AP2? I'll be shocked if "full self driving" ever...

Is it possible to hack the software to unlock battery, autopilot, etc.?

No, I'm not mixing it up at all. It is BOTH perfectly legal, AND you'll get away with it. You on the other hand are mixing up "I personally disagree with you" and "it's illegal and you'll be punished", you see these 2 things are VERY different, and just because you hate me doesn't mean I'm...

I was wondering how long it would take, I didn't think it would be the first reply though! ah TMC... the only car forum on the internet that is outright hostile towards car enthusiasts. Go look at the forums for ANY other car, and most of the content is on how to modify the car. This forum...

Is it possible to hack the software to unlock battery, autopilot, etc.?

Clear yes, Also completely irrelevant as nobody is talking about a company swapping safety related stuff, or even installing any aftermarket parts. We're talking about toggling a software setting that Tesla left in there. Completely different. Also you go tell the NHTSA to crack down on the...

funny, you spend a lot of time and effort telling me what I should and shouldn't do for someone who doesn't care. Is it possible to hack the software to unlock battery, autopilot, etc.?

Well the NHTSA and FMVSS disagree with you, but then of course facts haven't been something you've cared about so far, so why start now. People modify their cars in their garage all the time, at this very moment there are likely many thousands of people doing so all over the world. None of them...

Apparently I can't post 81 pages of legalese in this thread, but go actually read the DMCA exemption that specifically allows hacking your car. https://copyright.gov/1201/2015/fedreg-publicinspectionFR.pdf The DMCA categorically doesn't apply. And the NHTSA didn't do anything other than ask if he was planning to. If you don't think that it's the same way Tesla would, than you have no clue what you're talking about, it's EXACTLY Tesla's way. The code is already on the car. And yet again with the "illegal" word... show me the law.

George Hotz was selling a modification. the NHTSA does have jurisdiction over that. Nobody has suggested anyone selling anything here, let along a modification. People are talking about changing a switch, the same switch Tesla does for the same thing. This would be no different than Chevy...

Is it possible to hack the software to unlock battery, autopilot, etc.?

The NHTSA doesn't regulate how people work on their own vehicles in any way shape or form. You are free to replace your own brakes at home with the wrong model and the NHTSA won't do a thing about it. Is it possible to hack the software to unlock battery, autopilot, etc.?

Pirating software involves making a copy of the software, and violates copyright law. No copies of any software are required here, so there is no relation in any way shape of form to copyright infringement. Exactly, the law is to protect consumers. Hence why there's no law saying you can't upgrade your battery pack, because there's no party that can be harmed by it.

Some people call it a hatchback, but I don't really feel that fits. My wife drives a hatchback (VW Rabbit) and it's a very different type of body style from this. Is it possible to hack the software to unlock battery, autopilot, etc.?

If I roll back the odometer, no law is broken until I sell the vehicle. Then the law is in place to protect the buyer of the vehicle. If I unlock the extra potential of the car, no law is broken ever. There is no need to protect the buyer of the vehicle as giving them 75kWh instead of 60 does...
