    Model Y comfort suspension?

I inflate the tire 38 psi cold instead of the recommended 42 psi. Also using the Gemini wheels which are thicker and softer than the 20 inch upgrades. It is better now, but not as smooth as our Mercedes or Audi Q5. I know the upcoming revised Model 3 has softer suspension which will probably...

    NEW Model 3 Highland review!

Nice update, but too many changes and new parts. Better to wait a year or more when all the new bugs are ironed out.

I thought CT's design was suppose to simplify building, even make it cheaper.

I feel like with the first batches of CT, the general public will be too curious and start testing the CTs exoskeleton and glass by throwing heavy objects at randomly park Cybertrucks.

Model Y - MATRIX LED HEADLIGHTS?

Why did Tesla even install matrix headlights? Tesla vehicles aren’t even program to take advantage of Matrix headlights.
  5. G

I thought CT's design was suppose to simplify building, even make it cheaper.

Elon has said a number of times the CT is very difficult to build. Difficult to build probably results in higher production cost, until they find efficiencies and streamline more processes.

Reuters: "Tesla readies revamped Model 3 with project 'Highland' -sources" [projected 3rd quarter 2023]

I haven’t been keeping track with the refresh Model 3 news. Are there any improvements besides HW4? From what I have read it is basically a cost cutting update with a updated look. Same range, mcu, suspension, motors, etc… My guess is no new tech will be introduced, just an updated look?

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

I wonder with all the changes in FSD, how long before FSD surpasses HW3 capabilities and those who want full fsd will need hw4 or higher.

How does FSD handle these 4 types of toll booths?

that has always been one of my worries, and what is keeping me from subscribing to FSD, along with potholes and small road objects like shredded truck tires, rocks, dead animals and cars driven by drunk drivers swerving unpredictably along the highway.
  9. G

How does FSD handle these 4 types of toll booths?

    1. with a person you have to pay tolls to 2. drive through toll booths with no person just license plate sensors 3. decommission toll booths which are still in the middle of the highway 4. A group of toll booths with some entrances blocked by traffic cones I'm quite certain with 1 you have to...

how safe do you feel with basic autopilot?

Does basic AP avoid potholes and objects on the road like shredded truck tires or small objects like fallen pieces of a tree or dead/living animals?
  11. G

how safe do you feel with basic autopilot?

From what I understand basic AP is its own separate code. In the future it will use a subset of the FSD code? Which means right now basic AP code is frozen and isn’t getting the improvements of FSD development. Is this right?
  12. G

how safe do you feel with basic autopilot?

I never feel at ease when my Tesla is in autopilot. I’m always extra alert as if a child is driving the car. From what I read it is supposedly very safe and very capable of highway driving. What is your comfort level when on basic autopilot?
  13. G

For those with range anxiety in hotter temperatures

I think most of the EV range loss is from cold weather, not hot weather. That is why Tesla created a new heat pump, to extend range during winter driving.

    Autopilot Failed me!

Auto steer is still on beta, which probably means it needs more dojo training. I never use autopilot with auto steer, never felt comfortable putting my life on the line with beta software. I know many are perfectly ok with the risk, just be extra attentive when using autosteer.

How much are you willing to pay for FSD V12?

Yes, you are not the driver but are the co-driver meaning another primary driver who must be prepared to intervene at any time FSD cannot handle the situation. So driving to work could be FSD driving 50% of the way and the co-driver driving the other 50%. Level 3 isn’t set your destination and...

How much are you willing to pay for FSD V12?

At L3 you are still the driver. Below is L3 definition. SAE's L3 automation level definition “The driver must still be prepared to intervene within some limited time, specified by the manufacturer, when called upon by the vehicle to do so. This level of automation can be thought of as a...
  17. G

How much are you willing to pay for FSD V12?

Level 2 and 3 still requires driver intervention and has driver override. You cannot take liability if someone else is in ultimate control of the vehicle. asking Tesla to take liability at level 2 or 3 makes no sense. Maybe at level 4

How much are you willing to pay for FSD V12?

Why does Intel and AMD and Apple come up with faster Hardware every year? Is it because the current HW is inadequate? It's more for increase sales, now people feel they have to upgrade because their hw is old.
  19. G

How much are you willing to pay for FSD V12?

The front camera of HW3.5 can cover 450ft and the rear around 330ft, and can probably identify objects further than human vision. If you look at images of HW3.5 cameras the images at that distance is still clear and visible. From what I understand, the images are converted to vector base...

How much are you willing to pay for FSD V12?

I wonder how much difference HW4 will make. Right now, FSD is a software problem not a hardware limitation problem.
  21. G

How much are you willing to pay for FSD V12?

I don't think Elon is overstating or overpromising. I mean he is from our perspective, but it seems he truly believes what he says. The type of software they are making AI is complex and can grow exponentially in complexity, so you never know how long it takes until you start doing it. I took...

How much are you willing to pay for FSD V12?

Alright, let’s assume level 2 or 3. How much are you willing to pay?
  23. G

How much are you willing to pay for FSD V12?

That could be true, but Tesla is also after profit that is why they lowered their EV prices not because there where competing EVs at their prices, but to increase sales and profits. FSD is another way to tap into their millions of customers for even more profit.
  24. G

How much are you willing to pay for FSD V12?

I googled tesla FSD price history and it showed $5k as a starting point.
  25. G

How much are you willing to pay for FSD V12?

Lol, I think we all assume that as well. Elons optimism got all of us, but I think this time Tesla is much closer maybe a year or two.
  26. G

How much are you willing to pay for FSD V12?

Well, $8k total for FSD is overpriced. I still think $5k or lower will get more buyers.
  27. G

How much are you willing to pay for FSD V12?

I know this is a stretch but let’s assume level 4, for version 12.
  28. G

How much are you willing to pay for FSD V12?

With a “fully working” non beta FSD(v12) soon to be release, maybe in the next 1 - 2 yrs. How much are you willing to pay for it? I feel the original price of $5k is reasonable, $15k isn’t, unless you turn your tesla into a taxi, some sort of automated delivery service vehicle or something...

Tesla's reason for not adding spare tires, doesn't make sense.

It isn’t a goodwill service from Tesla. They make money. Have you read the Tesla road side assistance policy? Vehicle must be towed to the nearest Tesla service center and must be service there or you pay for towing.
  30. G

Tesla's reason for not adding spare tires, doesn't make sense.

True, but you still pay for road side assistance. Just a smart business decision. No spares saves them money and road assistance makes them money.
  31. G

Tesla's reason for not adding spare tires, doesn't make sense.

There is no business advantage for adding a spare just as there is no business advantage for bundling back cellphone chargers. Tesla will make more money servicing flats like Apple will make more money selling chargers separately. Good from a business perspective as long as marketing does...

    S3XY buttons at Abstract Ocean

Does the S3XY buttons allow temp control or just fan speed? I was looking at the button function and see only fan speed but no temp adjustment control. I would think users would want both options. Is this still the case or has it been updated?

Tesla's reason for not adding spare tires, doesn't make sense.

I still don’t get the efficiency and space improvement argument. Model Y weights around 4,400 lbs, spare tire maybe 30 lbs, jack and wench maybe 10 lbs. that is less than 1% at most more weight. How much reduction in efficiency is 1%? Likely not noticeable. I have never meet someone who took...

Tesla's reason for not adding spare tires, doesn't make sense.

No customer has ever said the spare is taking too much space or the spare is wasting gas mileage. It’s a recent phenomena that customers have been praising their vehicles for not having spares.

Tesla's reason for not adding spare tires, doesn't make sense.

Reminds me of airlines, keeps reducing seat size because most don’t notice it. Now some even charge you to select a seat, it used to be free to select your own seat. some airlines even want to start charging base on passenger weight and size. With Business, money is always king.

Tesla's reason for not adding spare tires, doesn't make sense.

What does it matter if it is using 2021 data vs 2023? What new and relevant tire technology has come out between 2021 and today?

Tesla's reason for not adding spare tires, doesn't make sense.

I ask if flats are less common now. Here is the answer from ChatGPT. This is the same AI that pass the bar test and US licensing medical exam. So it’s pretty knowledgeable. “Flat tires are not necessarily less common now compared to 10 years ago. While advancements have been made in tire...

Does the vehicle tell you when it’s time for a routine service?

You don’t have to take it to the dealership, you can take the vehicle to a third party or do it yourself and reset the reminder. If you don’t want to change oil once a year you can reset the message and change oil a year later. It’s just good to have some sort of reminder.

Tesla's reason for not adding spare tires, doesn't make sense.

I was just reading Audi did stop putting spares four years ago, at least on the Q5 models which my wife drives. But hers has the spare under the sub. Sad, cost cutting has come down to cutting features actually needed.
  40. G

Tesla's reason for not adding spare tires, doesn't make sense.

Speaking about spare tires, a lot of manufacturers still include spare tires. My wife’s Audi and my Mercedes has spares and both are not old vehicles. My Tesla does not. I’m sure many others have it as well. Well at least I hope manufacturers haven’t done away with spares.
  41. G

Does the vehicle tell you when it’s time for a routine service?

Since the services are so far apart it would be good to get some reminder from the vehicle. I know a lot of guys including myself who forget people’s birthdays and birthdays are every year and yet we forget. Teslas is every 2 -3 yr interval even harder to remember. My wife’s Audi tells us...

Tesla's reason for not adding spare tires, doesn't make sense.

Legacy items such as passenger lumbar support, spare tires, radar, parking sensors, sun roof covers, garage door openers, trunk cover, plastic inserts for the middle compartment, etc… next to go will be seatbelts. Elon already said seatbelts are not necessary because Tesla airbags are good...
  43. G

Tesla's reason for not adding spare tires, doesn't make sense.

That doesn’t make sense. A Model Y weights about 4400lbs. A spare tire 25 - 30lbs. Jack, wrench and pump maybe another 15 lbs. that is about a 1% increase in weight. How much effect would 1% added weight be on range?
  44. G

Tesla's reason for not adding spare tires, doesn't make sense.

If you are a male of average size and strength changing tires is easy and quick. I don’t get the safety issue, If you must change tires in a highway, Just call a cop and they will park behind you with blue and red lights on. I have seen this happen. Cops might look mean, but the ones I have...

Tesla's reason for not adding spare tires, doesn't make sense.

A plug might have worked in the first one, I remember it was a side wall puncture and ended up buying two new tires. The second one due to a pothole was a tire puncture and damage wheel. It’s possible a plug would have fixed it, but I had a spare and no tire plug.
  46. G

Tesla's reason for not adding spare tires, doesn't make sense.

Very true, if you get a flat within 5 miles of a service center and during service hours you are probably ok.
  47. G

Tesla's reason for not adding spare tires, doesn't make sense.

I have only gotten two flats in the last 10 years, but at the most inconvenient time. One was on my way to Disneyworld with my girlfriend. It was a sudden flat, tire went from full inflation to full flat in less than 10 min. Just enough time to get off the freeway. My vehicle(Ford) at that time...

Does the vehicle tell you when it’s time for a routine service?

So your Tesla is at 110k and you never had your brake fluid checked, or cabin air filter replaced?

Does the vehicle tell you when it’s time for a routine service?

Does the Tesla vehicle tell you when it’s time for a routine service? Like check brake fluid, replace cabin air filter, etc… or do you have to keep track of it manually? I know many cars will tell the driver when it’s time for service.
