Annoying whistle noise, when driving relatively slowly – Is it normal?

Sorry, I meant I had the answer to MY symptoms. If you guys have toggled on/off the destination (a SuC) in the nav system and you have confirmed the wine is different (less audible) then it must be a different issue, yes. Sorry for the confusion

Annoying whistle noise, when driving relatively slowly – Is it normal?

OK, now I have the answer to all those symptoms I described: preconditioning of the battery en route to a Supercharger! That's what it was. The Model 3 doesn't have a resistance heater for the battery (like Model S & X), it instead preheats the battery through its motors. While standard...

Annoying whistle noise, when driving relatively slowly – Is it normal?

Oh and BTW, the Chambourcy Tesla Service Center (near Paris, France) said they don't want to look at the vehicle logs if it's a "sound problem", they want a technician to have a test drive instead. I said we're probably going to waste our time, as it only happens once every 10 drives... but they...

Annoying whistle noise, when driving relatively slowly – Is it normal?

Hello everyone, I am posting this here because I have a similar issue, but not 100% similar. Let me explain: I have a Model 3 P since february 2019 (before I had a 2014 Model S), never have experienced any problem with the 3, until last week. I have experienced 3 times, on 3 different drives...

Pole Position game missing on EU 2019 Model 3

Confirmed: it is gone from ALL european cars with 2019 SW update. No one at Tesla seems to know why...

Pole Position game missing on EU 2019 Model 3

Yes, that is what I thought but then I checked with people owning S or X in Europe, and they do have the pole position game in their cars (the newest ones only, of course). So it can't be licensing problems. It's really strange the Model 3s being delivered in Europe right now don't have it

Pole Position game missing on EU 2019 Model 3

Hi! I recently took delivery (only 4 days ago!) of my Performance Model 3 in Paris, France. Having owned a "classic" Model S (2014, pre AP) for almost 5 years, I was of course looking forward to using EAP, enjoying Easter Eggs not available in older Teslas, etc. And there comes my misery: POLE...

    Tesla Referral Program

Yep, the app can also work sometimes. I used it to select my SC and confirm delivery of my arachnid wheels there... However, there are many prizes missing for me on the app

    Tesla Referral Program

Yep, cash flow issues can be an explanation indeed, but I don't think it explains the lack of communication, or not receiving emails at the end of each referral round to have you select prizes...

    Tesla Referral Program

Hi all - first a message for the mods: if this thread should belong to another forum, please feel free to move it (I decided to post it here because I am a Model S owner, but it is also applicable for the Model X, as those are the rules of the referral program). So, getting down to brass tacks...

No brake llights above 136 kph (85 mph) while using regen braking

Fair enough, I respect your opinion. Many others have stated their dislike of the way the system works with the brake lights under regen. However, no one has been able to explain why it is there with AP above 85 mph and not in cars without AP. And I have gone through measuring deceleration...

No brake llights above 136 kph (85 mph) while using regen braking

I have posted the deceleration rates, in meters per second squared, earlier on this thread. I suppose you've seen it? In case you haven´t seen it, here it is again: It clearly shows the same deceleration rate at 170, 160, 130 and 120 kph. So if it is the same, why a different brake lights...

No brake llights above 136 kph (85 mph) while using regen braking

So you want to take the risk to be rear-ended? I don't get it, but in any case, if you have an AP car you have the choice: don't lift the foot completely off. Classic non AP do not even have the choice... And there is no reason why. It is unsafe and a potential safety issue.

No brake llights above 136 kph (85 mph) while using regen braking

I had to wait 5 months to be able to get on the road again at high speeds and test this again... But it was worth it. Going 160 kph and above in winter isn't safe, and low temperatures often limited regen, but now I was able to try again. And I know have a video that proves my point: above 136...

Ordering in Store in Europe on 31st?

You can place your reservation worldwide on March 31st at ANY Tesla Store. It has been confirmed by Tesla Motors, and I have myself called a store in Oslo to double check. They said they will be taking Model 3 reservations during normal opening hours. I can´t see a reason why this would be any...

    Tesla Referral Program

I sent an email to Tesla to ask for a clarification on the eligibility criteria, since it is impossible for a buyer in Europe to get a Model S delivered before April 15th if they place a new order today. The reply contradicts a bit the terms I've seen on Tesla Motors website about the referral...

    Tesla Referral Program

It looks like it's improvised indeed. There's poor planning behind it. What are the delivery times in the US? Because in Europe you can't get a new Model S before end of May, and the eligibility criteria says the new owners must take delivery of their car before April 15th... Doesn't make any sense

Poll: How Many Model 3s Will Be Reserved In The First 24 Hours?

I was counting 24h after online reservations begin. I don't think they can achieve more than 50K exclusively in stores, IMO
  24. slcuervo

    Tesla Referral Program

Yep, no referral code available on "My Tesla" site... I suppose they´re working on it. Isn´t it odd that they say "Related Model S order must be placed after February 16, 2016 and delivered by April 15, 2016 for a referral code to qualify" ? That means less than 2 months delivery time. If I...

Poll: How Many Model 3s Will Be Reserved In The First 24 Hours?

I will be less optimistic and say 50K - the reason why I say this is because there are not so many people out there who are used to place reservations for cars that are not yet in production...

    Tesla service center meltdown?

Well guys, not all is bad out there. My door handle stopped working (handle slides out and the unlatch mechanism works, but only from inside). So, since having the driver´s door not opening from outside is a pain in the *ss, I sent an email to Skoyen SC (that was on Tuesday). The day after they...

Spotify messing with saved playlists, artists, stations

I know topics related to Spotify have appeared in several other threads where the 7.1 UI is discussed, but I felt like we needed a separate thread for this issue. Has anyone noticed that Spotify automatically adds stations to "your library" tab after you have searched and played them? If you...

    New House, What to Do...?

I'm not sure I am following you here... Why third party? The blue UMC adapter from Tesla will allow charging at 32 km/h with single phase 32A. Dave, do you have 32A or more on your main switch in the circuit braker?

Correct. The Norwegian UMC works fine in Belgium.

Windshield wiper issues (modes and settings)

My main concern is not with the wipers but with the washer jets. They are crap, IMO. Why not spray in a semi arc shape across the whole windshield like so many other cars do? Much more effective. Especially when trying to clean all the slushy salty water during winter time...

    Rdio service over?

It´s just very strange they send an email to explain Rdio will be replaced by Spotify with an OTA SW update, and then the rollout is slow. Complaining about all this is a bit of a "1stworldproblems" hashtag thing, I know, I know...

    Rdio service over?

And Rdio is down indeed now, Dec 23d. But still no OTA SW update available to replace it with Spotify... I wonder how they roll out SW updates? Why some cars get them earlier and others later?
  35. slcuervo

    Rdio service over?

No update yet. But Rdio is still working... for now!
  36. slcuervo

    Rdio service over?

And SPOTIFY it is. I just received and email from Tesla (I won´t copy-paste it here since it is in Norwegian) saying that an OTA SW update later today will bring us Spotify - as a replacement for Rdio, which is expiring tomorrow (Dec 22nd). Great news!

    Rdio service over?

Hello. I think this is for Europe only, since I believe Rdio is not used in the US (Slacker is). Today I got this email from Rdio: This email was sent to me because I have another Rdio account on top of Tesla´s, which I was using home. Now I wonder: is this going to affect the Rdio...

No brake llights above 136 kph (85 mph) while using regen braking

And how do I calculate the rate of deceleration? I have no clue, I am not an engineer... Maybe you can help?
  40. slcuervo

No brake llights above 136 kph (85 mph) while using regen braking

Probably not. But I am trying to show that the Model S deceleration under regenerative braking is stronger than any downshifting in an ICE car, hence the need for brake lights. Even above 85ph...

No brake llights above 136 kph (85 mph) while using regen braking

OK, then please allow me to change my mind. I am interested now, since I see you insist so much. You might have something to show me that makes me change my perception of things, so I´d like to see it. What I am after is something like this: If you have inputs that show higher...
  42. slcuervo

No brake llights above 136 kph (85 mph) while using regen braking

Other ICE cars, I meant. Stronger in the Model S than 99% of them, probably. I'm not talking about a Mitsubishi EVO pimped from hell with two zillion hp. You still think it's not? Prove it.
  43. slcuervo

No brake llights above 136 kph (85 mph) while using regen braking

Yeah. Drag, tires, weight, torque, dual motors, SW version... So? If deceleration is stronger than other cars and can be unexpected, it needs to be signaled. Brake lights needed. Period.
  44. slcuervo

No brake llights above 136 kph (85 mph) while using regen braking

If you check my chart, you'll see that I have measured very similar deceleration rates at 170 kph and at 100 kph... Not exactly the same, but very very similar. We're falling into the technical details again, and in the "do I like brake lights with regen or not" debate again. And that's not...
  45. slcuervo

No brake llights above 136 kph (85 mph) while using regen braking

Maybe, yes. But then it's the same for any ICE car, and the result is that if they want to decelerate as much as a Model S, they need to add brakes by stepping on the brake pedal. And their brake lights will go on.
  46. slcuervo

No brake llights above 136 kph (85 mph) while using regen braking

Well, I was not after the threshold kW/speed thing (I don´t think I´m expressing this very scientifically, but I guess I understood you and you understand me). What I was after is comparing the deceleration levels above and below 85 mph, to try to see if there was a reason there for not having...
  47. slcuervo

No brake llights above 136 kph (85 mph) while using regen braking

It all depends how close the car behind you is. Not everybody drives at 100+ car lengths. Especially those wanting to drive above 120 mph on the autobahns...
  48. slcuervo

No brake llights above 136 kph (85 mph) while using regen braking

Oh... Is that the average ICE car?
  49. slcuervo

No brake llights above 136 kph (85 mph) while using regen braking

Which is what I've proven by measuring deceleration from several ICEs. Some diesel engines with high torque come close to the Model S, but no ICE car matches it. I'm still working on AP Model S deceleration to try to figure out why the different behavior.
