Surprised that they chose this location. Three miles from I-581; not on a route that many travelers would use. Nice to be at a new Sheetz but close to Valley View Mall or Tanglewood Mall would have been more convenient.
The numbers on the energy graph disappeared on our 2019 S and 2020 X after updating to 32.10 and did not return after update to 32.21 this morning. The latest update improved immersive sound features.
With 32.10, my energy graph no longer shows the numbers for kilowatts (neither acceleration or deceleration). This on both a 2019 Model S Performance and a 2020 Model X Long Range Plus.
Well, I have also downloaded the beta version of iOS 15 (currently beta 2) and my 2019 Model S Performance now is displayed as "P100D" and our 2020 Model X Long Range Plus is a "100D" in the app. Prior to the update they were displayed appropriately and are correctly labeled in my account page...
Work on the Sheetz rebuild continues. I would guess they have at least another month to go. No activity concerning the supercharger equipment; the pedestals are covered.
Not many dining options here...Sheetz, a Hardee’s on Electric Road a block north. There is a greenway along the Roanoke River that provides a very pleasant place to go for a walk.
It shows up as nearby chargers on my Tesla app. Always says “1 of 3” available even though there are only 2 chargers there. I have never charged at a 72KWh urban SC but the chargers at this one look like the SC in Arlington VA which is a 72KWh one.
So yes this site has two chargers. I plugged in today at 55% and fastest charging was 47kW, although there was another Tesla charging. As these chargers are at the front of the parking lot, they may be susceptible to icing. No signs to indicate spots are for Tesla charging.
This store is temporarily closed for a remodel. They did the same thing at a nearby Sheetz; took about ten weeks to complete. My guess is that this site should be open again around early March. I will keep an eye on it (closest Chik-Fil-A is across the street!). The supercharger is Lexington...
@wdewing999...you can use my HPWC for a few hours over Thanksgiving if you need to. There are also several hotels in town with them. Just let me know. I live within 2-3 miles of the Salem supercharger.
Supercharger under construction near me (Salem, Virginia) has been at this same stage (awaiting pedestals) since mid-July. Look at all of the superchargers under construction north of the Canadian border....is that where all of our pedestals are going??
I will go by tomorrow and post an update. And check out what I saw on Twitter today. Now know where are the pedestals are going. Almost 30 superchargers in Canada just north of the border.
Drove by last night (on my way home from Atlanta)….still no pedestals. Hopefully this will be done by Thanksgiving and yes, it will be convenient for those travelling I-81 south then I-77 south. The Mount Airy SC looks to be about 6 miles from I-77, not terribly convenient.
I went by the Salem site last night. No change, still awaiting pedestals. There are destination chargers in the Roanoke area as well. The one at the Hampton in Salem is about four miles from this future supercharger. Don’t know which direction you are coming from the superchargers in Lexington...
Went by yesterday...no changes (except a truck/trailer blocking all the future charging spaces). This parking lot is on the small size; I hope ICEing isn't an issue.
Agreed. I stopped at the Sheetz in Mt. Jackson last weekend. Thanks to Sheetz. Hope we do not have the same problem in Virginia that they have had in North Carolina (ICEing).
Danville would be great for anyone wanting to use US 58. Madison seems too close to Charlottesville (less than 25 miles). I have never had to wait in Charlottesville.
First Lynchburg, now here? Looks like they are filling in the US 29 corridor. With the pedestal shortage (see Salem supercharger thread Supercharger - Salem, Virginia ), I doubt this one will be ready mid-August.
Went be today. Don’t know where the workers are. No trucks or trailers with equipment either. No Tesla boxes with pedestals waiting to be installed. Will be up and charging....soon...
@agloutney….Hotel Roanoke is a wonderful hotel that has destination charging (2 HPWCs). I would recommend it over the other hotels in town (if the Hotel Roanoke is full or too pricey, the Hampton Inn in Salem would be my 2nd choice). Short walk from Hotel Roanoke to downtown which has abundant...
Judging by the progress thus far, I would not expect this one to open until late July. I believe the city of Salem has its own electric company so hopefully final inspection will be quick and painless.
Any of you local folks know if the Decatur supercharger is still operational? It is no longer listed on the Tesla page but still on supercharge.info.
Thanks
