Battery and Drive Unit Warranties ending soon. What next?

I really wanted a MS, but there are too many disadvantages with a LHD. I think Tesla made the wrong decision to build only LHD. I’ll never buy MX, and M3 is too cramped. MY was the only choice I could make.

Battery and Drive Unit Warranties ending soon. What next?

I drove my 2014 P85+ for 8 ½ years and faced the same place you are at. I decided to get a new car and waited 2+ for a Plaid MS, only to find out they would be LHD. I chose to get a MYLR. Kinda bummed I couldn’t get the car I wanted, but after a major road trip with my MY I learned I made the...

    BAR/PSI for Michelin X-ICE tires (245/50-18) on T Sportline 18” on Model Y LR?

Hello all, I’ll be switching to winter tires soon, but don’t have the tire pressure for my MY. Does anyone have one or both tire pressure numbers from the title of this post?

Japan owners aftermarket wheels thread - Show me what you got!

I have a set of these in boxes in my garage: TST 18" Tesla Model Y Wheel (Set of 4) I’m waiting for my winter tires to arrive at my local Costco to have them mounted. T Sportline has a ton of options in styles, sizes and colors. It took about a week to get them.

    2023.32.9 release

Just a general comment: I’ve driven a Tesla for 9 years now. I’ve never worried about updating each time a new update comes out. Our cars tend to get better with each iteration.

Tesla Wheel Lug Nuts for Model S

Do you have a Tesla under warranty? One of my MS lug nuts failed, I wrote email to the Japan Tesla address, and they sent me 2 lug nuts.

    Tesla owners in Okinawa

Teslas ordered and delivered in Japan are RHD (except Models S and X). They are built in Shanghai, one of the best Tesla factories.

No live person, ended up canceling order

Owning a Tesla takes a different mindset. If you want to be an owner, you may have to be a bit flexible, sometimes REALLY flexible. Sit down and think about how you want to handle it. You got a couple of fantastic offers from your neighbor; reach out and see if you want to try again.

    CHAdeMO Adapter Update?

Something in the update worked; I got 45kW from a CHAdeMO yesterday! That’s a new record.

    CHAdeMO Adapter Update?

Lucky you. I’ve never had more than 37kW from my adapter. 🤷🏼 I got the update last month.

New 2023 M3P owner in Yokohama

That depends on where you want to drive. Check the Tesla website for superchargers where you’re going. Also, having a J1772 adapter will get you filled up overnight if your hotel/destination has charging. Other options are the CHAdeMO adapter and the mobile connector. I live in Kyushu and own...

    Tesla owners in Okinawa

I can’t tell if anyone replied here, but that listing is a Tesla destination charger, not a Supercharger.
  18. JayInJapan

    Tesla owners in Okinawa

There are no Superchargers in Okinawa. The island isn’t even big enough to need one. There are public chargers and one or more Tesla destination chargers. Best is have charging ready where you live or work, so your car stays charged.

Suggestions for Acquiring a Tesla During a 5-Month Stay in Japan

Can I ask why you want a car? Tokyo is one of the cities in the world famous for not needing a car. You’re going to find it‘s a real PITA when you want go anywhere in the city and try to park. You can go virtually anywhere very quickly using public transportation, especially the train/subway...

Tinting done on Day 1, although I didn’t touch that glass above my head. I miss my solid roof.

    MY vs MS air conditioning?

The difference in consumption is huge between the 2 temps I noted. 26 gets me 155kWh/km; 24 is 175kWh/km. “Overthinking” is a rude exaggeration; thinking and observing are what I’m doing.

    MY vs MS air conditioning?

Hello all: I’m coming from driving a 2014 MS. I used to be comfortable on hot, humid days with the air con on recirculation at 26 C degrees. Now, in my 2023 MY, I need to set it at 23.5 or 24 to feel comfortable. I see a huge increase in battery use at these levels compared to when I try to get...

Waiting Room for MYLR/MYP : April 2023 orders

The side ones go over the existing skirts; front and back were a swap. Be forewarned that the bumper needs to be removed for the rear, and the side skirts needed some TLC to fit properly. There are YouTube videos showing how to do that. I asked my detailers to do it all for me. If you’re going...

    テスラ スーパーチャージャー Japanese Superchargers

Sorry I’ve been off the social media for quite a while. I just went through these posts and want to say thanks for all the updates. I didn’t notice the new one nearest me: Kumamoto. It’s just about perfect for road-tripping N-S in Kyushu.

Costco has a policy to not add a service that benefits just one group of users. I’ve talked with the Costco Japan head a couple of times about it. Perhaps the NACS news will spread to Japan.

Tesla & shaken... Anyone done this on their own?

I don’t see why any of it would cause any issues. Shaken check will look at the amount of tread left and any potential damage to the tires. Japan is the land of mods, so the spoiler should be fine as well.

Waiting Room for MYLR/MYP : April 2023 orders

FWIW: I ordered a MYLR 4/6/23, with estimated delivery April-May; it was delivered June 8. Shanghai build for the Japanese market. LI-ion battery, stalks and USS. It's a joy to drive and helps (a little) to get over giving up my 2014 P85+.

Tesla Music Service (Spotify?) in Japan

I’ve been using Bluetooth with songs on my iPhone for the past year or so. Sometime last year, an update messed up how songs play on USB. テスラ スーパーチャージャー Japanese Superchargers

Hi Hiroshi, Traffic through Tokyo was a nightmare two days ago. I stayed on the surface street as long as I could, and passed lots of cars on the Shutoko. Hokkaido power plants and CHAdeMO

The CHAdeMO won’t work until power is restored; when the power is restored, they will work. There are no superchargers in Hokkaido.

    Exiting highway to supercharge

I think an exit and re-entry on the same route is a couple hundred yen hit. Hiroshi can confirm that. Which supercharger are you talking about? I’ve been to all but two (fixing that next month).

    P85+ Two-Year Review

Not worthy of its own thread, so I’ll mention it here. Today my 12V battery was replaced (at three years and seven months) for the first time. I was told that it lasted longer than many and that driving the car a lot is good to maintain that battery.

    Importing U.S. Model S

No one is losing sight of anything. Bring a non-supported car here, and you’ll lose many of the features; sounds terrible to me. Teslas do not cost twice the price here; in fact, I paid about 10% more than U.S. prices. If it’s for a few years, then, like I wrote above, a CPO can be a great...
