Supercharger - Reston, VA - Sunset Hills Dr

I mean, it’s great to know that Reston, VA is Tesla’s top priority 🤪 Do appreciate the newly planted cypress trees though.

Supercharger - Reston, VA - Sunset Hills Dr

No change as of tonight. The stalls are still covered, and the overhead lights are still off.

Supercharger - Reston, VA - Sunset Hills Dr

The ponchos for the three power cabinets that were thrown on the ground are gone. The stalls are still covered.

Supercharger - Reston, VA - Sunset Hills Dr

We have power at the transformer/meter and the ponchos are off from the power cabinets, but are still on the stalls. The power cabinets are pad-locked.

Supercharger - Reston, VA - Sunset Hills Dr

We have a 1500kVA transformer and a meter, not energized yet. The ponchos are still on. Sorry for the raw photos.

We have signs, all stalls are for Tesla charging. Also a DitchWitch.

A couple of photos from today as well. That last one is the price schedule for the garage itself in case one wants to park after charging or some such.

Should I sell my Model S?

If you think you're getting a good service from Tesla then keep it. If not... (should listen to myself more often, do as I say 🤪)

Wiki Consolidated eMMC Thread (MCU repair) (Black Center Screen)

I have gotten that message several times now with the eMMC/CPU daughter board replaced last year with a 64MB one by Tesla. The MCU comes back after a reboot but the message stays. Interestingly it disappears by itself overnight. Sometimes it is the IC that does not turn on for quite a while...

    Supercharger - Sterling VA Wawa

All but two of the charging spots are marked as 15 minutes general parking. Sorry for the bad meter picture, hard to do it through the meter enclosure window .

    Supercharger - Woodcliff Lake, NJ

Most deployed sites use rev.C power cabinets as the one in the photo, we have also seen rev.F in the field, same power limit. Go and take a look yourself. (this photo courtesy of @Lanny)

    Supercharger - Woodcliff Lake, NJ

Charging power is still shared on V3, the power cabinet is rated at 575kW while each of the four stalls can deliver 250kW, but not simultaneously.

    AP1 ONLY Please -- life after 2018.50.6

Indeed, for what? When they are in a position where they cannot avoid having problems they choose the lesser of those. If the batteries are problematic, they choose workarounds instead of replacing the problem, even (or specially) when those workarounds are at the expense of the owners, and...

    AP1 ONLY Please -- life after 2018.50.6

It's not FUD, Tesla knew about the eMMC limited life, they were fully in control of its use and they burned it out. And for what? With the battery they have a ~$20k incentive if they are on the hook to replace it.

Update to fix the totally avoidable bugs from the previous update to fix the totally avoidable bugs from the previous update to fix... And then they wonder why the eMMC dies, get upset when owners and finally the regulators start asking questions and demand solutions. The false "Some windows...

    Supercharger - Sterling VA Wawa

It's under construction, both the front and the left side of the store are fenced off, implying maybe 12 stalls. No Tesla equipment on site yet, just the usual shipping container and conduit pipe.

    AP1 ONLY Please -- life after 2018.50.6

Err... seems that 2020.48.37 fixed the false "Some windows are open" indicator in the app, but need more time to verify. As far as charging speeds are concerned we are not getting them back on these batteries. It will only get worse. AC L1 and L2 speeds are now affected too with the car having...

    AP1 ONLY Please -- life after 2018.50.6

So my S70D with 86k miles got 2020.40.9.2 last night. Today I preheated the car for about half an hour, ran errands, selected a Supercharger to "precondition" the battery and drove another 20 minutes to it to plug in. Ambient T was about 3ºC/37ºF. This is what I got, the Supercharger session...

    AP1 ONLY Please -- life after 2018.50.6

How low can it go?! The nerfing seems to be affecting cold battery AC charging as well, perhaps taking the increased internal resistance into account. Basically "opportunity charging" whether DC or AC becomes a "warm up/keep the battery warm" charging when tooling around town, as regen. braking...

    Supercharger - Reston, VA

You can try cleaning up the navigation history by sliding items to the side as too many of those can slow it down. You can try a factory reset, but I don't think in your case that is worth it as it is too disruptive. You can contact Tesla for suggestions: Tesla SSO - Sign In maybe they can...

    Supercharger - Reston, VA

Do you have the latest software update, and does your MCU exhibit other issues? It could be a stale or corrupt database. Try rebooting it only after you get home in case it doesn't come up. Also connect to Wi-Fi to allow it to download updates.

Supercharger - Washington, DC (Market Street NE)

What would be interesting to know is if there will be a utility curtailment and/or demand response that this Supercharger will follow and if there is anyway of knowing when these events occur.

Supercharger - Washington, DC (Market Street NE)

Indeed the transformer here is sized to handle the maximum load presented by the three Supercharger rev.C cabinets. There are some V3 Superchargers where the cabinet power is shared among 3 instead of 4 stalls. Various factors affect what configuration Tesla will choose, this one seems like the...

Supercharger - Washington, DC (Market Street NE)

If it is full with older cars like mine that max out at 65 kW then probably not. If it is full with new ones with warm empty batteries trying to gobble up 250 kW simultaneously, then let's do the math 1500 kVA < 2500 kW

Supercharger - King of Prussia, PA

Was trying to say just the opposite, Wawa is part of the solution if they actively seek to deploy EV charging at their locations. Once again, the existence of the Electrify America site at the mall, whatever we may think of it, is an indicator that if there is a will there is a way to deploy...

    Supercharger - Falls Church, VA

The site needs overhead lights. It also needs a solar panel canopy. Mystery conduits are rather wide for lights, maybe a utility pole will go there for the power feed.

    Supercharger - Falls Church, VA

It's a bit more than that, looks like they still need a transformer.

Supercharger - King of Prussia, PA

Wawa needs to make Elon a favor he can't refuse. Or maybe vice-versa, Teslas in the area should show up at Wawas, buy a hoagie or two, have a photo-op. Now that the new destination wall connectors can be configured to collect payment those would be more appropriate at the mall.

    Yet Another MCU Failure Post

Tesla would likely not take proactive measures to order/reserve parts while it is still "functional" and while so many are waiting for one with their car dead. I have a maintenance scheduled for Friday, 82k miles on mine, so if I see a human being there I may ask. Not sure how much using the...

    Supercharger - Chantilly, VA

Slightly off-topic, the Chantilly Walmart EA site was supposed to be big, like the Columbia, MD one, with at least 10 dispensers, 350kW for at least two. Then something happened, EA pulled back, the huge fenced off area was removed, and eventually replaced with the four 150kW BTC "urban"...

    CCS Adapter for North America

Simple innovation is indeed possible, just use freaking the superchargers, easier, more reliable, cheaper :) I would have loved it if Tesla had offered a CCS Type 1 adapter five years ago, would have bought one even though I already had a CHAdeMO one. Could have used it on a few locations that...

    CCS Adapter for North America

Right, so a CCS Type 1 socket assembly with the required lock and the ability to hold the plug and cord will be too bulky and heavy leveraging too much torque on the vehicle's TSL-02 port. That will necessitate a pigtail design like the existing CHAdeMO adapter with an extra foot or two of...
