Mobileye will launch a self-driving taxi service in Israel in 2019

Also the new Audi models (A6, A7 and A8 so far) have a 48V 'mild hybrid' system in addition to the 12V system. The 48V generator can supply 5kW of power (Continental Supplies the Heart of the 48 Volt Electrical System in the New Audi A8).

Seeing the world in autopilot, part deux

Wow, great work! It is apparent that the car sees and classify much more than is shown in the IC display today. If Tesla wants too it seems like they could show trucks, motorcycles, bikes etc with AP2 today (as AP1 does).

Why does Tesla use a Resistance Heater instead of Heat Pump

    Jaguar I-Pace

Very interesting. I drew the datapoints in that video by hand on top of the ABRT BTX4 90kWh pack data, i-pace shown in green: The i-pace is currently software limited to 200A charging current (~80kW). According to the image in my previous post the max current will be 250A. That should help a...

    Jaguar I-Pace

I found it on a i-pace facebook group. According to the poster it came from a european dealership. There has been some speculation that even though the i-pace does not support DC charging at higher rate than Tesla (~100kW) it has a charging advantage because it is able to maintain high charging...

    12v constant in rear trunk

I would use a 7.5A or 10A fuse, that should be sufficient for a cooler (5A is on the low side, and may be too low for the start current when the compressor starts up). Normally I think operating the liftgate at the same time should be fine, the highest currents is probably only seen when the...

Definitely, we (I) did the same test on an earlier software version, and not taping all the way down affected the test. Model S/X deliveries with Intel-based MCU

Audi is using a mix of Nvidia and Mobileye (and others) in their zFas computer running the new L3 Audi A8: I would guess Audi and Mobileye saw eye to eye with their slow/conservative approach in contrast to Teslas aggressive/agile approach (more here).

Tesla's 85 kWh rating needs an asterisk (up to 81 kWh, with up to ~77 kWh usable)

No, but I will go for a longer trip next week, I will do some supercharging logging then. I did test the csv logging in ScanMyTesla last week, logging a few hours of charging at home: I will also check module temps when parked for 24+ hours some day.

Do they? What production cars/brands are that? My impression from the Mobileye CES presentations it that EyeQ4 rollout will start this year.

First L3 Self Driving Car - Audi A8 world premieres in Barcelona

Excellent post @AnxietyRanger, I had a feeling Audis approach was something like this, but I havent seen it explained so thoroughly before. I used to own an Audi with L1, ACC only. I considered and test drove the new A4 with L2 assist (ACC/lane/jam assist), but it was nowhere close to the Tesla...

Tesla's 85 kWh rating needs an asterisk (up to 81 kWh, with up to ~77 kWh usable)

I originally speculated that the spike was because of uneven heat/coolant distribution, but I dont know that for sure (insight from @wk057 is appreciated! :)). I have not experienced any problems regarding supercharging on my car. I dont supercharge that often, but I did see 110kW+ a few weeks...

I also see slightly higher temps in the middle of the TM-Spy graph on my car (I can upload screenshots tomorrow). Do we know which module in the pack layout this is? I was thinking this perhaps could be the top one of the stacked modules in the front of the pack resulting in slightly higher temps?

Massive data uploads since 2017.34 2448cfc

Thanks @BigD0g, it seems like Tesla decided they wanted more data for some reason then.. @kdday - I have a Ubiquiti Unifi setup (using wireless uplinks/mesh to get coverage all the way to my garage), it also gives insight into what kind of traffic the client has:

Possible scientific vindication of using just cameras, no lidar

Yeah, first day with snow here today, no autopilot or TACC after 15 minutes of driving, the front of the car was like this: Since the radar has no heating element it does not take that much to disable it. The AP1 pre-facelift center located radar has heating right? On my previous Audi it took...
