SB 6586 - Do NOT let this happen!

I feel like the response to legislation like this seems muddied, with a lot of people complaining about the idea of any tax, or arguing that they couldn't possibly afford it. That may well be how you feel, but it is hardly a productive argument--especially as the fallout from Eyman's initiative...

You forgot to include existing fees. They want to charge $750.

Autopilot Update for Older Model 3s

$1500 is as high as I'll go for TACC. If Tesla wants free money, we should talk.

    Sales Tax Exemption returns

Not only is he running on climate change, I have heard him boasting SPECIFICALLY about the number of electric vehicles in his state. One interesting thing, unlike the federal government, in WA the governor can veto just a portion of the bill. If he's actually serious about either showing real...

    Sales Tax Exemption returns

So I'm paying the state more for this fee than I ever have paid in a year in gas tax because...? And don't we pay tax on the electricity we fuel our cars with?

Tesla Model 3 is crushing competition

Rising SUV sales are good news for proponents of FSD, because if you prefer an SUV, you must hate the art of driving.

Dual Motor v RWD in PNW

I have been impressed by the RWD wet weather performance. Not sure I've lost traction once (or if I did, the car regained it imperceptibly fast). We still have a Subaru for snow, so I can't comment on snow performance.

Roof racks - what is the holdup?

Yeah, none on mine either. Which is a little weird for an expensive item. Heck, they sent me a tracking number for a usb cable.

For anyone else waiting on an order since early Feb, just got a shipping confirmation. Hopefully this bodes well for them getting back in stock for everyone else too!

    Standard Autopilot Now Included

For the umpteenth time, no, I'm not frustrated. I like my car and found the price agreeable for the options I selected. If they make options I did not select available for a price that I feel is a good value, I will happily add those options. If not, it will not bother me in the slightest.

    Is autopilot worth it?

I get an error when I click on autopilot upgrades from my computer as well. Interesting, I'll think about it if they lower it back to $2000.
  14. Foxhound199

    Is autopilot worth it?

I'm happy for everyone who likes AP, but I'll throw a vote into the "not worth it" bin. Regenerative braking has been the single greatest improvement to my commute. The daily stress is pretty much gone, and I'm not sure how much more appreciably AP could help that. I think TACC is pretty...

The effect of rain on range

I've been noticing that really wet, cool air (regardless of actual rain drops) seems to take a bigger toll on my efficiency than frigid, dry air. Not sure why.

    New Tesla Workplace Charging program

I should pass that info along. Can't imagine they would mind losing the activity and billing info (they don't charge to use them) because that just might be the whole source of the problem. The stations are set to connect via GSM cell reception...from 3 floors underground. It doesn't work...

Roof racks - what is the holdup?

Ah, didn't know about the accidentally forgetting to mark it out of stock thing. Explains why it's been almost two months without a peep. Most companies wouldn't just hold onto your money in that scenario, but I guess Tesla isn't most companies.

    New Tesla Workplace Charging program

Anybody know if this program is still running? My work has a couple chargepoint stations that crap out half the time you try to use them. This would be a big improvement.

Reduced price Autopilot & FSD for existing owners announced March 1st

Another way to look at this pricing strategy: For those who bought with their cars and those who paid nothing, the cost to Tesla for each car is the same. I have all the same hardware, and paid $0. Basically, everyone who bought AP and FSD is partially subsidizing cheapskates like me. Now...

Reduced price Autopilot & FSD for existing owners announced March 1st

People still seem to be having trouble grasping how sales work, which seems to be what got us in this bind. If they want to charge $5 or $50,000 tomorrow, that's their prerogative. My job as an informed consumer is to find the price I find agreeable and purchase then, irrespective of what the...

Steve Hobbs D-Lake Stevens trying to increase EV licensing by $200

Is this bill actually going anywhere? Seems like we're getting pretty late in the session, and there doesn't seem to be anything like this in the House, right?
  22. Foxhound199

Steve Hobbs D-Lake Stevens trying to increase EV licensing by $200

So if I drove 12,000 miles with my previous car, I'd pay ~$190 in gas tax (I actually drove closer to 9k/yr, but 12k is widely considered average). Under the per mile, that would be $288. Under the flat EV fee, it would be $350. There's an unreasonable amount of discrepancy between those...

What kind of phone do you use?

I've repeatedly seen people proudly proclaiming that the vast majority of people who would buy a Tesla would of course have an iphone. I have no idea what that's even supposed to mean, but I'm glad this poll so far is more in line with what I would expect.

    Supercharger - Forks, WA

Wow, I'm genuinely surprised. Not sure they realize how incredibly remote Forks is, but I'm happy I'll never have to wait to charge when heading through there.
  25. Foxhound199

    Supercharger - Forks, WA

It might be a quality over quantity thing too. In some of these out of the way locations, it won't make sense or be feasible to have a dozen or more chargers. A place like Forks could get by with very few chargers, but it would be nice if they turned over quicker so in cases where they do all...

Model 3 not recommended and also highest owner satisfaction from Consumer Reports

Other than a really minor common issue with one of the headlights, our Tesla has been problem (and maintenance) free. WA State EV Sales Tax Exemption Updated

Looks like it has the support of the governor as well. Importantly, new and used! This is exactly the sort of incentive I think we need. Remember, this isn't about saving people a ton of money, it's about that extra little nudge for people who are on the fence about going electric to take the...

WA State EV Sales Tax Exemption Updated

When I think back to when I had my first car, if I had to list off the biggest expenses in my life at the time (besides insurance), it was probably gas, oil changes, replacing the timing belt, a brake job, new O2 sensor, and replacing a clogged fuel filter. Some of these were real budget...

    NEW EAP Trial

Weird, I had the first round of AP trials, and it worked for less than a day before mysteriously disappearing. Then for about a month I had a message blocking most the screen saying the AP trial software was updating. They finally fixed that bug, but said they were no longer offering AP...

WA State EV Sales Tax Exemption Updated

No. As much as I am in favor of helping lower income Washingtonians, and as much as doing so sounds more broadly appealing, it is the wrong message to do so exclusively. The important thing to understand is this money isn't to help people afford a car, it is to incentivise those who are buying...

WA State EV Sales Tax Exemption Updated

Many Democrats (and Inslee in particular) have gone on the record supporting it, but I see the optics issue on both sides. Seems like a good thing to have funded with part of the carbon tax, but that's not happening now. I'd like to see an exemption extended to used cars, and it shouldn't come...

What is the etiquette: Office building paid parking with charging stations

So the garage getting to capacity (both for all cars and charging stations) is definitely an issue here, and I have never seen anyone park in the vacated charging spot and/or move the cable over. There is no such note as you mentioned, and I can't be alone in being hesitant to unplug the car of...

What is the etiquette: Office building paid parking with charging stations

We have a similarly labeled charger at my work (except 4 hour limit). I think it's pretty generous given the charging is free. Problem I've been having is a Leaf driver who thinks themselves incredibly clever is parking in a spot adjacent to the charging stalls, dragging the charging cable...

    Workplace chargepoint issue

Chargepoint has apparently already looked at it and can't find the problem (allegedly, as I didn't deal with them directly). This is 3 floors underground, so I can't check in with the app remotely.

    Workplace chargepoint issue

My workplace has a two separate chargepoint stations (4 stalls), and I've recently run into problems. One now is in an endless reboot sequence and is unusable. The second station appears to function correctly, but beginning with the other one's failure, it is causing me an odd problem. I plug...

Interestingly I find regen braking one of my favorite things

I think it'd be great to give you the option and all, but I'm also really glad Tesla implemented it the way they did. One pedal driving is such a joy that in no way could be equalled by paddle shifters or going back to hitting the brakes. Sorry to hear it's not for you.

Anyone not getting Enhanced Autopilot (EAP)?

Har har. Look, some people love EAP. That's great! I'm glad they like it! But your premise that those who do not like it simply do not know what they are missing is demonstrably false. It simply isn't for everyone. Sorry this is a world-shattering revelation.

Anyone not getting Enhanced Autopilot (EAP)?

You're probably right. I'm happy with my choice to skip all of it, but I'm also glad to see so many people embrace it. The ultimate goal is very cool, so good to see they're going to keep aggressively funding it.

Anyone not getting Enhanced Autopilot (EAP)?

Well, I'll be happy to provide you with a full two week thumbs down review if Tesla ever decides to reinstate my trial, though I somehow doubt you'll find that more satisfactory. I suppose one possibility is that there actually was a software issue with the EAP, which has been causing some...

Anyone not getting Enhanced Autopilot (EAP)?

Thought you might say that. Not sure what else I can say, I didn't request their trial to crap out on me after one day. For the record, I drove for about an hour with autosteer. In that time, I felt it was getting more tedious as time went on. I don't doubt that at some point, the little...

Do we know more about Teslas than the employees?

Yeah, I don't think I've ever shopped for a car where the salesperson was more knowledgeable about the car than me. Tesla's employees have been miles beyond my experience with other brands.

Anyone not getting Enhanced Autopilot (EAP)?

How often? I felt like I was being nagged about every 10 seconds. I guess the thing I learned in trying it was that steering takes absolutely no conscious effort, and even an incredibly easy conscious task that replaces it feels quite taxing.
