TSLA Market Action: 2018 Investor Roundtable

I appears I have "been named specifically" as an offender here... And your post seems to be very well "Liked" and "Loved" This is supposed to be an investor discussion. It appears stating any negative views on demand, is taboo here, (unless you are known to be long). Seems to be a legitimate...

What is the quiet period for earnings? 1. Quiet Period — The period beginning on the quarter-end date and ending at the time of the earnings release for that quarter should be observed as a quiet period with no formal or informal business discussions by management with analysts or investors.

It really does. It's a waste to buy back and crush these cars. They deserved the yuge fine, would be better for the environment to let the cars stay on the road, rather than crush and rebuild.

You are correct. That problem hits them in January, when the credits expire. The current problem is burning through the reservations. Demand should be strong with the loss of tax credit looming. This "necessitated" a Musk Demand Tweet during the "quiet period". It appears the market does not...

My bad. It's even worse. Delivery numbers were MX 11,730, MS 10,070. Down from yr ago levels and short of consensus estimates. Production did outpace sales, should be many good deals at 10-20K, off as next quarter ends.

GM is well equiped to handle fuel prices, wherever they are. Cruze, Cruze diesel, Volt, Malibu Hybrid, Cadillac CT-6 Hybrid, New Silverado diesel with 30MPG + Hwy, New generation of large Suv's likely with high mileage diesel. The world is awash in oil, and will be, for long into the...

Let's also look at acquisition cost's, and compare similar size vehicles. Chevy Cruze at 40MPG HWY, haven't done the calculations but confidant, even at $5 gallon, still not close. EV's for now, appeal to the EV enthusiast trying to save the world. Need much higher fuel prices or legislation...

    General Discussion: 2018 Investor Roundtable

GM is ramping up production for Europe and the rest of the world. I'm sure they prefer to use their production for profitable vehicles like trucks and SUV's that people want. With fuel price low, many consumers still need vehicles with the lowest overall cost per mile.
  37. X

    General Discussion: 2018 Investor Roundtable

No I haven't heard that sales number yet. It's not likely all that important. It's tough to make any money on EV's. They'll build what they can sell. As low fuel prices continue, they sold many high margin trucks and SUV's. So they can sell EV's at a loss. Earnings should again surprise on...

It appears Tesla is reluctant to put more controls on the system. It's an expensive option at 8K, people won't pay if the system won't "drive" for them. Any more restrictions, it just becomes adaptive cruise control, available from many, at far less cost.

We'll know more Monday on this. Not a great sign when they curtail production on their "high margin" product to build their low margin product. If demand on the MS is so stellar, why the 10K discounts at quarter end?
