    Firmware 8.0 - For Classic Model S

So, my classic is in for it's annual physical (service). Received the notification of a software update available and successful on my iPhone today. 17.10.42 Applied. Love this stuff. No idea of the differences until I get the car back in a few days. Went from 2.44.130 up to 17.10.42...

    Firmware 8.0 - For Classic Model S

Thanks for all the replies. I completely understand the "it's there when it's there" concept and support. I historically get the updates within the first 7-10 days after the first hints of release on TMC. Wondering if, because it was basically not used for most of December and all of...

    Firmware 8.0 - For Classic Model S

Question classic owners: I thought I had this all figured out but now I'm confused. I put my car away for the winter in December - on 2.44.130. What's the latest release that our Classic will take (mine is 2014 non-ap vin 38688)? Been driving it for a couple of weeks now but no updates have...

Dual motor vs. RWD in winter driving.

AWD is going to be better than RWD for acceleration. Deceleration (arguably the most important part) will be nearly the same. By far the largest influencing factor is tire selection. Summer performance tires and winter don't mix. All season tires are a compromise on all fronts. I put my...

    Soundproofing

Well, got the car all stripped down from the rear doors back. Added another box of sound deadening. Focuse on the area you pointed out. Placed aluminum backed butyl (Stinger Roadkill Expert) inside the large hole on the rear wheel humps as well as far back on the body panels. Three layers on...

New Owner with Questions 2013 P85+

Probably due to my driving habit. I drive through rural Southwestern Michigan to work 5 days a week. No highways, 55 mph two lane road with very little stop/start along the way. Many times I'm behind slower traffic. And, I'm a bit older, my days of smokey burnouts from stop are mostly behind...

New Owner with Questions 2013 P85+

Welcome to the nut house! :) Fellow P85+ owner here too. I installed an NEMA 14-50 outlet in my garage and use the mobile charger. 50 Amp breaker in the box. No issues charging over night. Get home from work and plug it in. I drive 80-100 miles on a daily basis. Works fantastic. I...

    Soundproofing

A few cruddy pictures in my garage at night, and one of the stock 21 next to the 20's. Next step with wheels is to pick up some metal "T" center caps and color match to the Axis wheel. The factory Tesla gray is darker than the Axis by a few shades.

    Soundproofing

I added about 150 pounds of sound deadening (Butyl and foam - Stinger), did all four doors, as much as we could in the rear, even put some up in the frunk area. Results were ok... $1,800 investment in total (half materials / half labor) but I would not say it was worth the investment. Going to...

    Soundproofing

Old thread revival - Wondering if the OP ever received any sound reduction in cabin or guidance from Tesla Service? I continue to try and lower cabin noise and looking for any other ideas. Any other suggestions out there? Steps completed so far 1) Sound deadening added 2) Switch from 21's...

2015 P85+ Staggered 21 Grey Wheels and Tires

A lot of various opinions on the staggered versus non staggered. For me, in the past, with rear wheel drive only cars it allowed the use of a wider tire in the rear versus the front to get better traction on acceleration. I believe there's also some understeer/oversteer advantages to running a...

2015 P85+ Staggered 21 Grey Wheels and Tires

Put my new Axis wheels on, the color of the center caps on my 21's is a shade or two darker than the new 20's so, I'm going to include the center caps with the 21 inch wheel/tires too. Romo - Paulusdb is correct, should fit your car even if it didn't come with staggered wheels.

At the risk of getting myself in trouble here on the Tesla board... If you're looking for S-class luxury in the model S, you're looking in the wrong spot and have the wrong car. Model S does not compare well to S-class interior appointments. Different league of luxury, different kind of car...

    Soundproofing

I have a 2014 P85+ with the same loud road noise / wind noise interior. I put about $1,800 into sound deadening (material and labor), focused on the doors and rear hatch area. Also, added the parcel shelf in the back. Helped a lot with the wind noise coming in the back, however the tire noise...

Poll: Will you eventually buy Tesla EV, Powerwall and Glass Solar Roof?

Would love to do all three but I live in Southwest Michigan. Still need to research exactly how much return from the sun I'd get here when the sun spends a few months out of the year absent due to snow and clouds. Particularly interested at how snow on our roofs here December through...

Vendor Michelin offers the new Pilot Super Sport Acoustic in 21" sizes !

No worries. My order is still in and hopeful that as soon as they arrive, I'll see a pair on my doorstep a few days later. Going to make due with 245 PSS on the rear for rest of season. Thanks for keeping us up to date.

    Adjusting Volume Wheel Drops Call

Happens for me too. Currently version 8 and ios10 on 7 plus. Adjust volume, call disconnects. iOS 10 and v8 came out so close together, honestly can't tell you which one started the problem. Have not reports to Tesla yet, if it continues in the spring for annual service, will report then...

Vendor Michelin offers the new Pilot Super Sport Acoustic in 21" sizes !

Crap-o-la. I just saw this today and placed my tire rack order, but they're all gone. Bummer. On back order now, guessing they aren't here until springtime. Will look around and see if I can find anywhere else. Sounds like I just missed getting the last two by a few hours. :)

Rear tires for the P85+ with 21x9 rears -- Michelin, Dunlop or Continental?

I ended up going with the 245's all the way around. They look a little small on the back of the car (staggered wheels) but not too bad. Would prefer the 265's obviously, but couldn't find any evidence of anyone running the PSS in 285's (ether 30 or 35 series) successfully on factory wheel. I...

Any M5 or AMG 63 jumpers here to report about experience post "Antiques" :)?!

Long time BMW owner here, now have a P85+ as an experiment to give something different a try. I've had the following: E39 540i6, E39 M5, E60 550, E60 M5 six speed, E60 M5 SMG and F10 M5 DCT. You'll be pretty happy with the Model S. Stoplight acceleration is better than the F10 and more...

Giving up my M6 tomorrow for p90d. having remorse help ease my mind!

The lease on my F10 M5 ended in November of '15 and we picked up a P85+ in April just to give it a try. That was my 3rd M5 and 5th M car. Drive a Sierra Denali HD through the Michigan winters. So, I can say that I do still miss my M5, however they really are two different experiences. As an...

Rear tires for the P85+ with 21x9 rears -- Michelin, Dunlop or Continental?

^^^ I'll give 500 bucks a piece for those rear tires ^^^ So jealous. Still have the open question, it's only 20mm wider, has anyone put a 285/30zr21 or 285/35zr21 (both available sizes in the PSS) on the stock 9 inch rim? Also could go down to 20's on Axis MS and open up the options a TON...

Rear tires for the P85+ with 21x9 rears -- Michelin, Dunlop or Continental?

Well, this is unpleasant. Just confirmed with TireRack the same. I have 245/35 PSS's on the front of my P85+, and 265 PS2's on the rear in need of replacement. The PSS is just so much better than the PS2's I'm considering putting 245's on the rear until the 265's are available. Looks like...
