yes its open and working, charging now...

Supercharger - Boston, MA - Allstate Road

Having charged here on several occasions, I'm going to have to confirm your account. There always seemed to be a few cars and people hanging out on the otherwise empty 6th floor, occasionally coming and going meeting others there.

Clarification on battery "Imbalance" versus "Degradation"

Good questions, but unfornantely no answers yet. I saw something similar on my S last week for the first time. Was going on a long trip so wanted to start out at a full 100% (instead of normal daily 80%), set it to charge to 100% and it only reached 97% then "charging complete". Also over the...

    South Boston SC parking fee

Yes, no parking charge. Been there many times post Logan. Great place to charge before long trip home. No parking fees, and plenty of restaurants surrounding it. Only issue is you can get dizzy going all the way up to the top level

legal to drive de-badged Tesla in Mass?

License Plate and readable VIN. the VIN on the dash will tell what kind of car you are driving regardless of what badging you have.

    Supercharger - Lowell, MA (speculation)

Interesting... I've been at that chademo many times (it's the only fast free charger around). Yes there's not much to do and there isn't a Panera in walking distance! Proximity to 495 is ideal, but I agree, Drum hill would be better from a "things to do" perspective. The obvious thing to do...

Know of a TT-30 outlet in Central Mass?

Yes, buy any offical 15A, 20A, 30A, and 50A one and you're covered. It's ok and safe to plug your UMC NEMA 14-30 plug into a TT-30 receptical just fine as the UMC will accept either L-N or L-L without issue. Never connect/convert a higher amp plug to a lower amp outlet.

Home delivery to NH from Dedham

Telsa does a horrible job with state specific information about deliveries. They would have much happier customers if they simply listed on thier website every state plus all countries they sell in, and what information you needed to know for every one of them as not all of us live in california.
  9. dave4444

Home delivery to NH from Dedham

The driver will have an inspection report with any noted body damage at the time they picked it up from Dedham, you must sign off after you comare that list (presumably empty for a new car, or some items for a CPO) to actual condition to release any liability for the transport company. If there...

    No Tesla’s in Boston?

Get 10-20 miles of the city and you will see them, S and X are quite big (parking can be an issue)
  11. dave4444

    Supercharger - Dedham, MA

Sounds like they need a new dedicated delivery center somewhere in NE with lots of space

    MCU Retrofit

The MCU on my early-2015 S died a few weeks ago. It took the SC almost 2 weeks to source a replacement part, but they did replace the entire screen and MCU. They put in a 'MCU NA PREMIUM - Model S and Model X (1045006-00-D)' part, but that is the older arm based one :( Either the older (AP1...

New Hampshire - Annual EV and Hybrid Tax - Vote NO

'solely on electricity obtained from the electrical grid' so if I power from PV array I can argue it doesn't apply?

Battery Preheat - Does it ever work?

One should keep in mind why you want to preheat the battery. The car will keep the battery within acceptable temperature range by itself to prevent damage without you doing anything, the only reason to preheat the battery is if you want max possible range once you get started. Otherwise you...
  15. dave4444

Battery Preheat - Does it ever work?

What outside temperature are you starting your preheat at? Battery heater will only kick on <30F or so, and you really don't need to preheat the battery unless it's <20F where regen will be non-existant. One other trick when it's very cold to get the battery heater to kick on to start a charge...

    Tesla UMC Questions

Buy the 5-20 UMC adaptor available at the tesla web store, it's just $45 and designed for your 20A 110V outlet. Assuming your leaf EVSE is J1772, you can plug it into your tesla and it will auto-detect the max amp advertised by the EVSE so you will not have to adjust anything on the screen.

    Owners API basic display

haha, yes I've anonomized the example data (gps, mileage, vin). over an ocean seemed like good GPS coordinates to pick.

    Owners API basic display

Ya, good idea. Added it, you can now use a token you've obtained yourself.
  19. dave4444

    Adjusting charging amps remotely?

Certanly doable with an OpenEVSE. Some people have interconnected solar output monitoring to modify the max current on an OpenEVSE.

Need Guidance on Ordering Model S- 75 vs 100

A battery upgrade/swap is uneconomical after purchase. If you plan to charge at home every night a 75 will be just fine for all but the most extreme commuters. The extra 25kwh is just added weight to the car which will cost you more $ in charging since you need to transport all that extra...

    Stronger, more aggressive Regen?

The display you are seeing on the dash is the power in/out of the battery, not the power in/out of the motor. If it's cold your motor regen is limited to the sum of the battery input, plus the HVAC, plus the battery heater. If the HVAC and battery heater are going full out that's another...

Anyone selling a Tesla Wall Connector with 24' Cable?

check ebay, there's usually a few at any given time.

    Owners API basic display

I've been messing with the Owner's API to create my own stats retrieval interface. It's pretty complete at this point and I've made it usable by anyone now. My objective was to create basic output from what is available in the owner's API and display a simple summary that can be viewed on my...

    Warning icon? Too cold?

welcome to "cold" weather... that's the least severe regen limit. You're probably in the 40F range. Nothing to worry about. You don't even have any dotted lines limiting regen at that temperature.

    Vampire drain avoidance

Resist the urge to open the tesla app and check your car's battery status more than once per day.

    Radar detectors

Newer S's have a spot for toll transponders to the right of the rear mirror at the top (in the black area), you could probably mount a radar detector there too since the coating is not present there.
  28. dave4444

I See your AP1 and I will raise you my AP2. Firmware is getting freaky good.

wow, I would have grabbed the wheel in that situation. surprised no collision warning.

Airport Parking Charging System for Teslas ....

EVSE equipment is expensive. Also, agree that a 5-15 or 5-20 circuit per spot is more than sufficient for topping up a vehicle parked for many days. Lots of spots each with their own circuit is way cheaper than installing lots of J1772 EVSEs at each spot. Interested owners can simply bring...

    Supercharger - Freeport, ME

Sigh, 7 of 8 ICEd is sad. Really the only thing to do is take a picture and find a LLBean manager and let them know. Unlikely they will do anything with the cars there but the more it's reported the more likely they will proactivly do something (additional signage, etc...). Of course a...

    Charging with Tesla provided cable

Sounds like a GFCI outlet that when GFCI trips it vibrates/hits the item plugged into it dislogging it.
  32. dave4444

ahhh slower EVSE provided on new cars now!

Agree, your UMC should be in your trunk for when you need it away from home. Home should have a dedicated EVSE of whatever capacity to match your car (40A, 48A, 72A, 80A).
  33. dave4444

    Adaptor that takes 2 of J1772 @ 40/32 A and supplies a model S 80 amp charger?

What you're asking is certanly buildable, however it would be quite complex. First, you'd need to handle the pilot signaling to each source reading the max AMPs allowed plus trigger the charger, plus trigger start/stop etc.. Second, you'd need to provide pilot signaling to the car which is the...

    Supercharger - Leominster, MA

Ya, you can see the dugup ground in post #17 where they put the HV conduit. Pavement is patched in post #19 with the cones and crates on the far side of the street where the new pole is now installed. The new pole is not installed in post #62 and #65, but shows up in post #89 but isn't...

    Supercharger - Freeport, ME

Its unfortunate that LLBean/Revision seem to think that L2 chargers are approrpate. L2 chargers are useful for home or a workplace, I would have been impressed if their press release said they were installing 8 CHAdeMO/Combo 40+KW fast chargers, but 6KW L2 just isn't forward looking for a...

Desktop Supercharger Phone Charger from Tesla

Anyone actually have one of these yet? The pictures on the site seem to indicate that you have to somehow thread a charging cable of your choice through the bottom up one side, right? Also looks like you need to rest the plug end of the cable up in the corner as there is no place to "plug" it...

One year of experience on Eversource TOU rates

You're also paying to heat the wires between your utility meter and the car. Check the voltage as reported by your car right after you plugin (while still 0 Amps), and then once at full load. You can calculate the power going to heat wires from the voltage delta between 0A and full load (as...

One year of experience on Eversource TOU rates

David, Does has the on-screen controls->trips->total energy values been useful for determining away-from-home charging amounts? I've been disappointed in the lack of historical data Tesla gives us, I'm sure the car knows when and how much I've charged for the life of the car (plus everywhere...

    Supercharger - Leominster, MA

Adding 500KW of demand to the local distribution could cause issues, especially since just 4 cars show up with low SOC at the same time and it'll actually draw 500KW unlike most residenses and commercial sites that are usually way over sized. Presumably Tesla had checked with the utility...
