Rear View Camera - atleast 5 sec delay in coming on (always black initially)

yes, it's still broken. Also, it looks like Homelink (garage door auto-open/close) is now also broken. It works for a while and then stops working.

Is it worth getting FSD in Canada?

I think there's a high likelihood Tesla will make HW3 (FSD chip) available for cheap or even free at some point. It doesn't make sense for Tesla to maintain two code branches in the long term for the legacy module and new chip. It would mean twice as much work for development and verification...

Is it worth getting FSD in Canada?

No - not paying anymore for something that doesn't exist with no definitive timeline. Most likely will be in a new vehicle when FSD is allowed in Canada.

Rear View Camera - atleast 5 sec delay in coming on (always black initially)

I'm definitely accustomed to using a back-up camera and happy to never use the rear mirror to back-up ever again. The camera is there and should work 100%, simple as that. I'm also not sure exactly what you're disagreeing to since my comment was that the faulty rear camera is unacceptable. You...

Rear View Camera - atleast 5 sec delay in coming on (always black initially)

I still have an issue w/ 12.1.2. Shift into reverse, camera screen is blank, sometimes for 5+ seconds before coming online.

Rear View Camera - atleast 5 sec delay in coming on (always black initially)

I have to say that this behavior is completely unacceptable. It is a safety risk. I was trying to back into a parking spot on a busy road and the camera did not turn on. It was frustrating and scary as traffic backed up and I just sat there like a moron. The car's horrible rear visibility...

Wheel Jog with Auto Lane Change

Yes, applying rotational force. If I apply too much it will disengage. I guess over a 2 hour drive it's too hard to keep the pressure significant enough to avoid nag. Since there is no direct feedback if it's enough pressure, you only know when it nags

Wheel Jog with Auto Lane Change

The theory is that the NN and machine learning will eventually be able to do this as well as a human driver. Including taking into account the lead car, and all the surrounding cars. One big advantage is that the vehicle can watch all those cars in real-time simultaneously. As a human driver you...

Wheel Jog with Auto Lane Change

I tried explicitly several times on the weekend while driving on Nav-on-Autopilot. Same outcome. Regardless of the pressure, it would ask for steering wheel confirmation via pressure. Auto lane change (without confim) was enabled. I'll see if I can have my passenger record it next time for a video.
  13. dusdev

Wheel Jog with Auto Lane Change

Definitely!! It is also harder, in my opinion, because the pressure applied needs to be within the proper window. Too little: no detection. Too much: exit auto-pilot. So you now have to focus on the bio-feedback pressure. This probably means less concentration on the road. I like the function...

Wheel Jog with Auto Lane Change

Wrong - this doesn't work. Applied pressure 'counter-clockwise'. When the car wanted to change lanes, it asked for a steering wheel acknowledgement. My pressure applied counter-clockwise didn't change. I had to release, and re-apply pressure to 'acknowledge' the no 'acknowledgement' lane change.

Wheel Jog with Auto Lane Change

It's hilarious. It's worse than using the turn stalk to confirm on the previous software. Totally lying when they said "no confirmations". This is just another confirmation method.

Autonomy Investor Day - April 22 at 2pm ET

Comparison between human eyes and the car's cameras are not that meaningful. It's the processing behind them that's truly important. Human's possess a higher ordering thinking compared to a NN. NN is based on probability and approximation. At some level I'd say it's equivalent to human's first...

Intermittent LTE/3G reception - anyone else?

Yes I still see the issue occasionally. It is especially bad after being underground with no reception. Once above ground (in a high quality reception area) the vehicle will not regain any connection (bars with line). Only a reboot seems to remedy the situation. It seems to me this could be...

Tesla model 3 accident with a Mack truck

Glad she walked away from the accident. Looks like a pretty forceful impact. Looks pretty much like a write-off to me :( The truck was definitely following too closely. Agreed the rear camera would have been nice also.

2019.8.3 Stronger Regen Over 30 MPH

I'm still waiting for 2019.8 so I can provide my opinion. I think from the various posts there's a good possibility that sometimes the regen under the same conditions may be different with different cars.

2019.8.3 Stronger Regen Over 30 MPH

Anything is possible but it's unlikely. The more reasonable explanation is that the traction control system is very sensitive to the feedback from the wheels during regen braking. For winter tires the measurements are causing the system to ease off to avoid potential slippage. It seems the...

No temporary turn signal on latest software

Are you sure it's a result of the firmware and not a faulty turn stalk? My vehicle was unable to do the short 3-signal turn indication and it was because the turn stalk was faulty. It's been replaced and the problem went away.

2019.8.3 Stronger Regen Over 30 MPH

Sentry Mode used 18 miles of battery overnight.

I park underground in a parking garage during the day and there is a reasonable amount of car and people traffic. After a few days of Sentry enabled the USB key (32 GB) filled up. I didn't really pay attention to the power draw. I hope that a firmware update will address deleting the old...

2019.8.3 Stronger Regen Over 30 MPH

Sounds about right. I wish that the vehicle would be able to bring the car to a complete stop (say, with creep off) in that lowest range. Even if at the bottom end it lightly applies the friction brakes. It's always a bit of a game for me to coast to the required stop and minimize friction...

2019.8.3 Stronger Regen Over 30 MPH

For some reason on this forum there is a huge backlash over decreased regen issues. Everyone seems blames the weather, battery temperature, or winter tires. 2019.8.3 Stronger Regen Over 30 MPH

I'm looking forward to this update. Back in the fall after a firmware update, the regen on my LR AWD decreased to perhaps 10-25% of what it was prior to the update. Feature request: Location-aware Sentry Mode

It seems like an obvious feature to add. Or at least have an 'Always Enable Sentry' mode. I'm going to guess here that the feature is still considered beta. Hence they don't want to enable it by default. Once the feature has been sufficient soaked there will be an always-on type option...

So many mixed answers - Electrical requirements for installation

Actually I'd say the worst that can happen is that you overload the circuit and the breaker does not trip (this is known to happen occasionally). This may result in a burned wire or worse an electrical fire. A good rule would be to have excess capacity and nominally draw below that limit...

So many mixed answers - Electrical requirements for installation

I don't think that 24A is a good experience for people in the winter. Too much current is drawn to warm the battery during charging. The charge rate will simply be too slow. I don't see much point in cheaping out on your personal charging infrastructure for a $60k+ vehicle. May as well go with...

So many mixed answers - Electrical requirements for installation

They used the original wire from the meter to the 100A panel to drive the new 100A subpanel circuit. This probably kept the cost down somewhat. It may not be possible in all configurations depending on where the new panel is going. In my case the new panel is literally on the other side of the...

So many mixed answers - Electrical requirements for installation

Similar situation - existing 100A panel in the basement. I opted to install a new 200A panel in the garage off the meter feed, and then feed the old 100A panel from a 100A breaker (using the existing outside line). Then the electrician installed a 60A breaker to the HPWC. This is the 'ideal'...

New Charge Port Installed (Cold Weather Version)

You have to wait until the LED changes to white before removing the cable. Sometimes with phone-as-key it won't even stop charging. Not 100% correct. Tesla was slow to deliver AWD to Canada which resulted in the AWD not making it onto the rebate list. Had it be released in Canada one month earlier it would have been eligible.

Yes they do. My friend just ordered an Model 3. The EV rebate cancellation was extremely disappointing.
