    Autonomous Car Progress

Can Waymo take me from home (a small village outside Madrid/Spain) to the city? Or it is just a very expensive geofenced experiment inside a bubble that will never work in the real world on uncontrolled roads and reallity?

Stopping at traffic lights and stop signs now in "shadow mode"

You were stating that a system working on Las Vegas is geofenced but working on the whole US is not. I understand you and it is easy to commit that mistake (specially living in US where Tesla has more pressence), but please, understand that it is really important to be very clear with the...

Stopping at traffic lights and stop signs now in "shadow mode"

If Tesla defends that they are making the system not geofenced, it is land what matters, not people. If Tesla makes something "useful" just to US owners, it is a geofenced system, like it or not. It would be the same exactly that others are doing, just increasing (a bit) the scale of the...

Stopping at traffic lights and stop signs now in "shadow mode"

The entire US is a very small part of the world. If something works only in "the entire US", it is working on 6% of the world. So working only in the US is as heavily geofenced as working only in Las Vegas. Wrong, Tesla needs FSD that works in the entire WORLD. Otherwise it is another useless...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Professionals needs to shake out weak holders before really driving the price up. Otherwise, weak holders will sell during the up move and force the professionals to buy weak sells at unfavorable prices. It is much better for them to drive the price down (or take advance of sharp movements)...

    Software Update 2019.20.x

In general, Tesla version numbers are following Linux Kernel scheme (plus the year at the beginning): year.major.minor. Major: Odd numbers are development versions, even numbers are release versions. Wide releases occurs every 4 weeks usually. Minor: Bug fixes to the major version. There are...

Navigate on Autopilot rollout in Europe

Any Spanish Tesla user please update when NoA is available WITHOUT lane confirmation (for Model X). Until then, I am staying in 2019.12.1.2.

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Model S/X can be AP1, AP2, AP2.5 and AP3. Model 3 can be AP2.5 and AP3. FSD Computer is included in AP3. AP2 and AP2.5 can be upgraded to AP3 eventually by changing the computer by the FSD computer (but AP2 will keep it's lower color definition cameras). The main difference between AP2 and...

    Software Update 2019.16.x

I saw the message on my Model X that an update were available. Fortunately I deleted all my wifi configurations a few days ago when I saw @verygreen disclose of the "Improvements" to us European users. It seems I will stay a few months on 2019.12.1.2. As far as I know, Tesla cannot enforce an...

Nissan launches hands-off ProPilot 2.0 On-Ramp to Off-Ramp (Rivals Navigate on Autopilot)

Source? Mobileye EyeQ5 is well positioned in the demo race towards full autonomy, but it is still very bad in the real released features implemented in available to buy vehicles. I prefer Tesla where it is today, than promising full autonomy on powerpoint demos as it is Mobileye nowadays...

    AutoSteer nerfed in EU

Is this rule really problematic for the future of EAP/FSD? It seems to me just that UN rule requires the car to take a curve at an adequate speed, so TESLA just needs to improve it's heuristic system to slow down before taking a curve. Until all this is clarified, I am halting my ModelX...

    Software Update 2019.16.x

Yep ... for the first time I am going to hold on updates and keep 2019.12.1.2. I NEED autopilot to drive thorugh step turns on my daily commute. I could live with lack of real improvements since 2018.39 (model X in Spain/Europe), but regressions are too much for me. I will keep looking...

    Software Update 2019.12.x

In fact, Model X is the last in the family to get updates. And being in Europe is annoying in terms of software updates. Inside Europe, Germany and Norway tend to be a bit better, but Spain is horrible. By the way: ELON: There’s also some things we’ve been able to do for existing customers...

    Software Update 2019.12.x

Just got 2019.12.1.1, but I have a Model X 2018 (FSD) in Spain, so obviously very dissappointed with the update, as it has been for months. No NOA, no range increase, no fast charging, no flashing brake lights, no advanced summon, ... Since last year the only interesting update has been Sentry...

    Yellow border on screen... again...

I just came from the SC to make a revision. One of the things is the yellow borders (Model X June 2018). They just told me that previous fix didn't work because they were indeed the same screens and some customers had the same problem reproduced after changing the screen. They told me that this...

    Tesla autopilot HW3

If it is a demo what we see in April 22, it will belong to the "demo" universe and cannot be compared to real released products. Especially, if it is a pre-recorded demo on a geofenced area. Demos from Tesla, Mobileye, NVidia, etc are interesting to see what are they developing and what can we...

    Software Update 2019.8.x

Let me guess, not for Europe :( Being the owner of a Model X +FSD on Spain (Europe) I really feel the last monkey in the lane for Tesla. But I suppose it could be worse, I could have MCU 1 or HW 2.0.

    Tesla autopilot HW3

Tesla radically expands Early Access Program

I bought FSD back in June/2018, but I am from Europe and Tesla keeps us as second class citizens. It would be a surprise to receive that invitation.
  28. F

    How will Tesla demo FSD?

It would be great and exciting to see a coast to coast demo ... but a demo is a demo. The demo will have been planned and designed on advance, and it will be successful by definition, otherwise it wouldn't have been released. That successful attempt might have taken another 999 failures and...

    Tesla autopilot HW3

:D :D I bought the FSD package too (not feeling cheated though, I already knew where I was getting myself into). This forum is filled with a lot of posts with DEMOS from Mobileye/Nvidia/... trying to compare future technology with what Tesla has now in actual cars you can buy. That 2016 Tesla...

Mobileye - Most Impressive Self Driving Demo Yet (CES 2019)

In theory, my Model X is capable of fly too, had it implemented the software routine to move up and down very quickly the falcon wing doors. Please, don't mix unreleased features with released ones, they are not comparable at all. If we talk about demos/unreleased features to the public, then...

Mobileye - Most Impressive Self Driving Demo Yet (CES 2019)

Great! I need that. Can I buy this car today and drop my Model X which makes 95% of my daily commute on Autopilot? Please, note that my daily commute includes secondary roads near Madrid, Spain (Europe). Or this "reign supreme" is limited to a few specific roads in a specific country?

Mobileye - Most Impressive Self Driving Demo Yet (CES 2019)

Impressive! Talking about demos, for me it is as impressive as the Tesla 2016 demo. Great for Mobileye to make a demo as good as the Tesla one (or even better): It will be nice when we see this on a real production car that anyone can buy so that we can compare it with current alternatives...

Waymo’s “commercial” ride-hailing service is... not yet what I hoped

As far as I know, the Israeli taxi car you talk about doesn't exist at this time. So if someone is a close second at this time it surely is not MobilEye. When the Israeli taxi car fleet is put in production and takes customers without human drivers, then we will see where is Waymo, Tesla and the...

    Neural Networks

On our cars we just have the Neural Network and the matrix of weights (a few thousand of numbers). The source code (1.0) of a Neural Network is just a few hundred of lines (or 2 lines in python) and it is always almost the same. There is no real value on that. The matrix of weights is a...

Elon Musk: EAP solved, on track for FSD completion in 2019 (No one else is close!)

Ok, so my options for 100% automatic daily commute: 1) Abandon Spain and go to live to a specific country (US) and not in any of the other 193 countries in the world. Find a house -and a work- so my daily commute involves some specific geofenced roads. I could buy a Cadillac then. 2) Go to...

Elon Musk: EAP solved, on track for FSD completion in 2019 (No one else is close!)

Again ... please, could you tell me which brand / model should I buy now, today, on 2018 for that level of autonomy? Please note that I live on a small town 20 miles from Madrid (Spain/Europe). Half of my daily commute are on secondary roads, where we have just one lane on each...

Musk promises better Summon coming "next year"

Why? I wanted to help Tesla achieve FSD as quickly as possible. I am helping the only way they allow me to: Giving a $3000 0% interest loan to Elon so that he can reinvest it on R&D. I like to think that part of Karpathy's salary is paid using my loan. If they would allow me, I would help by...

    Elon Musk Recode Interview 2018

Elon: "Saudi Arabia’s an entire country, so I think you don’t want to, if there’s one really bad thing that occurred, nail down the whole country" Elon (responding if he would take Saudi Arabia's money now): "I think we probably would not" Elon: "I think we should just consider that there is a...

Mobileye will launch a self-driving taxi service in Israel in 2019

Nice! My main motivation for buying a Tesla was the Autopilot. I make 95% of my daily commute on Autopilot. I want that level 4 or 5 you talk about, and I would be willing to change my Tesla for an alternative with this superior level of autonomy. Could you tell me which brand / model should I...

v9 finally going international? ... 2018.40 spotted in Japan

Got 42.2 two days ago on my Model X 100D (June 2018): Massive improvements in AutoPilot on my daily commute. It feels a bit more robotic but a LOT more safe. It takes difficult turns with much more confidence. It detects correctly the lanes even on roads without painting. The most useful new...

v9 finally going international? ... 2018.40 spotted in Japan

Seeing the world in autopilot, part deux

Very interesting. It seems to me a proof that Mobileye is cheating, at least in that video. I don't see any other explanation. Anyone have another view about this?

    How high will it go?

I would be cautious and react to the real movements, instead of trying to predict what the movements will be. There is a possibility that the good results are already discounted by the market.

TSLA Market Action: 2018 Investor Roundtable

The professional needs to shake out the herd (us) before a solid up movement can start. They will take advantage of bad news to buy more stock, until the majority of the floating offer is on their hands. Among other things, that is because we (the herd) tend to exit our winning positions too...

    Adaptive headlights finally working?

I just returned from a 800km trip where I have been testing adaptive headlights (June/2018 Model X 2018.34.1). In summary, I think this feature is not ready for real use at all. Many times I had to shut it off manually when it didn't detect traffic comming and I was annoying another drivers.
