Wiki Selling TSLA Options - Be the House

Hello, I just found this thread and have been reading with great interest. But I am confused about one thing. What does it mean when you have a “-“ sign before an option, i.e., -p950 and -850 straddles? Does that mean these positions are losing money?

CNBC did a short segment on Jonas’ note this morning. It was a positive piece with video of Optimus picking up an egg from an egg carton and moving it to an appliance using its fingers. It also showed the dancing bots.

I am not buying it, he is, and probably could not swing a new car purchase. How many miles can he expect to get out of a M3? Thank you for your advice.

Hello. My son is looking to purchase his first car, and wants a Tesla. He found a 2019 M3 LR with 70k miles for $26k. Does this seem like a fair price? He works remotely and does not drive a lot. If this is not appropriate for this forum let me know where to post it, please.

Can we project a share price from this, if the market applies a 20 or 30 multiple? (Stupid question probably but I don’t know how to do this)

Sad, if true. Pretty is very subjective; I personally don’t care for the humpiness of the MY but I love the look of my RAV4. It seems to me that success of the mission to accelerate the adoption of EV’s would be served by a variety of looks and styles to appeal to a variety of people. It...

Hertz heavily promotes Tesla from the counter. In a case like that, or if they are out of other cars, the renter would not have time to prepare. I recently rented a car from Hertz, a one-way rental to help my daughter move. When I got there they did not have the car I rented and they tried to...

Further to your Hertz comment, people often have time constraints when on vacation and don’t want to use the time to learn how to drive a new car. So a Hertz rental may not be a good fit for vacationers.

I agree that any advertising should aim to dispel all the misinformation that has become deeply ingrained due to constant repetition of the MSM. I belong to an online group of women over a certain age who travel solo. Conversations sometimes turn to car rentals and specifically Tesla rentals...

Totally agree, I would love a smaller hatchback. And there’s a market for it, look at Rav-4 and CRV.

I first invested in 2019, well before the first split. But seeing the ATH in the rear view mirror is still sad to me, no matter when I bought. As far as holding forever, I am certainly a LT HODLR. But I am getting old and thoughts turn to funding a retirement. Also, I would like to own one of...

Wow, I didn’t realize that Cathie had updated her projections. I will go look at that. Thank you. Yes, I remember 2020 all too well! Trouble is, I keep expecting that to happen every day, leading to much disappointment - which of course this forum understands.

As a longtime Relationship Manager for community banks, I don’t understand how SVB could make a high concentration of loans to start-ups. Banks typically require a solid track record of profitability supported by CPA reviewed or audited statements, and collateralized by assets with values...

I would like to understand one point. Regarding the cars in transit, have they been ordered? That is, can we assume that a sale is imminent upon delivery? If so, are we selling every car we make?

Off topic posts about student debt forgiveness (many snippy)

It’s not always bad life choices. It’s not about whether kids can pay or not, it’s a blanket forgiveness. There is no test for ability to pay that I know of. My oldest has med school debt up the wazoo and he’ll take a $10k reduction though it won’t matter. My youngest has a balance of about...

Yes, I was thinking the same. My son hasn’t had a payment since early in the pandemic and has been waiting for forgiveness (and here I’m a banker 🤦🏻‍♀️). But if payments were to resume at some point it would be money taken out of the economy.

Haha I’m struggling with the same thing. I have less than 400 shares but have had them for so long almost the whole thing would be LT capital gain. Just hate to pay that! I do think if you are selling to invest in TSLA your gains will be better in the long run.

Just curious…..for those that are buying shares today, that will not be settled by the record date of 8/17, what happens to those shares after the split? How can they not split? You can’t have one share trading for $9xx post split. Wondering if the record date really matters.

I would think, when getting to retirement age, the thing to do would be to liquidate enough to establish a reliable income stream. At that point you can’t really have your entire net worth tied up in a volatile stock, no matter how much you believe in it.
