Vendor Why Suma Convex Side Mirrors Better?

Well, I disagree, and wanted to have that out there for other folks to consider as a courtesy. YMMV as they say.

Vendor Why Suma Convex Side Mirrors Better?

Hi everyone. I want to give a little feedback on these. The blue tint works well, much less nighttime headlight glare. However, for me at least, the wide angle mirror on the left side is literally dangerous. It's impossible to tell at freeway speeds how far a car is behind you as you look to...

    MountainPass Performance Comfort Coilovers

Hmm...well that's not how I'm perceiving it. It's fundamentally different, not just interior rattles. Most of the loud noises over bumps are simply gone or dramatically reduced. I don't know if this is what is really happening, but it seems like previously the bump would hit the wheel, go...

Is the Model Y the best choice if you have a dog?

We specifically bought the Y because we have a dog and it is great. Just throw the pooch in the back and I love the size of the car overall and the height is really nice versus the lower car. Just test drive it to make sure it is not extremely noisy as my 2020 is but I think the new ones have...

    One of my best upgrades

Hi there. I just got these in the mail for my model Y but I am very worried about the installation. It seems you have to stick a screwdriver and pray the other the original mirror off and I am worried I will break it. My Package came with no instructions at all. For those who have done it, is...

Vendor Why Suma Convex Side Mirrors Better?

Hi, I just ordered and received these. The installation looks a little scary, I am worried I could break something sticking a screwdriver in there like that and then I would be stuck with a very expensive repair. Any thoughts or comments? Do you think there’s a good likelihood of breaking...

Do the 2021’s have a softer ride

Here's a piece of info: I've asked 2 friends who've recently bought MY's (2021) if they perceived them as noisy or harsh and they both said no. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to ride in their cars to compare, but these are both guys in their 60's who've had decent cars for a while. I think...

Tow hitches with Model 3 [discussion]

I looked into it: the Ecohitch is $315-350k. I've been quoted $400 and $650 for installation. I watched the eco hitch installation video and it's a major process, removing the whole rear bumper/side assembly and rear lights. I'm hesitant to do it with the final savings being $200-400 with the...

    Rear View Visibility

I think it depends what you’re sensitive to. If it bothers you then it’s an issue, we just drive the car and don’t think about it.

    MountainPass Performance Comfort Coilovers

Reading the comments here I would like to elaborate on my observations. Obviously new shocks do not totally change a car’s NVH profile. To illustrate with an example: Hitting a nasty freeway joint. Previously the shock and noise would literally be painfully loud and jarring. Now most of that is...

Blind spot, close calls - do I need camera adjusted?

I am not so sure that the Blindspot monitor is the worst ever. It is not in the usual spot, but I find it works quite well especially since they redid the screen size with the update a few months ago. That said, everyone should be looking over their shoulder before they change lanes. No...

Blind spot, close calls - do I need camera adjusted?

For the Suma mirrors, which one do I get? I want the blue and defroster. Why is there a "turn signal" choice? I don't think my 2020 has a turn signal in the mirror, did that change? Thanks!

    MountainPass Performance Comfort Coilovers

I forgot to add the obligatory wife comment: she is very happy and enjoys the car much more as well. Going into this she was very skeptical and to Her credit said the car was fine but now she is beyond pleased. Basically the car feels like it always should have, like a nice driving normal car...

    MountainPass Performance Comfort Coilovers

This is completely incorrect. The new suspension has alleviated almost all of the noise problem. The main booming noises are when you hit a sharp bump and the stock suspension doesn’t absorb it at all and it was like a bomb going off in the back of the car, “Bloom“! The car is still not the...

    MountainPass Performance Comfort Coilovers

It is definitely better, but it will not be as good as a model S or model X as they simply have more advanced suspension systems. If you are OK with your suspension as is, it might not make that much of a difference. I had an early model Y and as many people have commented they probably already...

    MountainPass Performance Comfort Coilovers

Honestly, that has never been an issue for me. When my wife drives, I put my head back and take a nap so hard for me to say. The new suspension is a little bit smoother for sure, but driving on a normal freeway that has never been an issue For me. Therefore I am hesitant to give any opinion on...

    MountainPass Performance Comfort Coilovers

Hi everyone, consider this part two of my review. I think it’s worth noting that perhaps any shock upgrade would probably feel much better than the stock shocks, so I can’t say how these would compare to any other upgrades. That said, I am more and more pleased by the results. I think they may...

    MountainPass Performance Comfort Coilovers

I don’t believe this is correct. As I mentioned in my post, I went with NPP recommended settings which are 14 clicks off of Max stiffness. I did them myself and they were clearly 20 clicks For both rebound and compression on both front and rear. If I miss read your post, I apologize.

    MountainPass Performance Comfort Coilovers

Hi team, Got the MPP comfort coilovers installed and drove home on the freeway for about 30 miles. Used max comfort settings per MPP: 14 clicks from full stiff on all settings, front and rear. I'm still figuring out the impact and will add to this, but I was quite pleased. The best way I can...

    MountainPass Performance Comfort Coilovers

A bit of "thread hijack" here: what is the point of lowering the car like this - i.e. your miata, or for the MY or any other car? Is it for looks or for performance? I've never been able to figure out why this is such a big focal point for so many drivers. Thanks for your feedback.

    New Tires Noise?

I purchased these tires based on the recommendations on the Forum and overall like them but they do make a humming/whine Sound at moderate freeway speeds (I can’t give you the exact miles per hour). Some people claim that it transformed the driving experience and made it much smoother and...

    Who supplies Tesla shocks/struts?

We are over 10,000 miles on the car, there has been no change in the suspension dynamics that I can perceive. We changed the tires to quatrac pros and that made a minor difference as well. Really hoping that the new suspension from MPP works as well as many of the reviewer’s here have reported.

    Who supplies Tesla shocks/struts?

I love the car...but the suspension sucks. Period. It's shameful. Just ordered MPP comfort coilovers. It's my first foray into custom car stuff, and actually fun. The car is so amazing in every other aspect, it's a shame they put in a crappy suspension and no noise dampening.

    MountainPass Performance Comfort Coilovers

This made me feel really good about my decision to purchase these. My main incentive to go electric was that I love to ski, and where I live it's a 3-4 hour drive to the slopes, and the carbon pollution from driving up was making me sick to my stomach. It feels so good to drive up with my...

    AUTOPILOT AND NEAR MISSES

For me, autopilot is for "standard conditions" - i.e. easy freeway driving, etc. And it's wonderful. I take over whenever there are more complex situations, as I've found the computer isn't up to it, and it's literally life and death. Be smart - drive your car.

Winter handling Subaru vs dual-motor model Y

Former Outback owner here. Great car, and the recent versions are much quieter and nicer. My 2013 Outback drove us crazy with road and engine noise. I have driven my MY LR AWD in snow, and tested it in parking lot frollies. It's fine - the computers kick in and it would be very hard to crash in...

    MountainPass Performance Comfort Coilovers

Awesome! When i first drove a MS, it was on Wildcat road in Tilden - I was blown away. Little did I know, but the air suspension and so on in the MS was NOT going to relate to my MY. Let's talk when you get the MPP coilovers installed - we can relate to the same roads here in the East Bay...

    MountainPass Performance Comfort Coilovers

well...a little too late to wait for me. And I'm happy I have the car, as I needed a car at this time and wasn't going to buy another gas guzzler regardless. So the question is whether the incremental improvement of coilovers is worth it. My impression is they probably will help a bit, but not...

    MY road noise?

I just wanted to let you know I did change my tires to the Vredestein Quatrac pros some people on the farm had recommended him as a much quieter tire. They do not do anything for rough pavement or very little. However on smoother pavement on the freeway I think they are a bit quieter. Point is...

    THUNK from rear suspension

I experience the same thing. It is the one thing about the car I truly don’t like, and if you look at my post on the MPP comfort coil over thread I am asking them if the new coil overs are helping this. I took the car into service to have it driven by Tesla technicians to see if I had a lemon...

    MountainPass Performance Comfort Coilovers

Gundarx- Thank you for sharing your experience. Like many of us, we are really trying to get a feel for how this actually affects the car and the handling and so forth. Model Y Performance In The Snow

I have been driving my model way up to Tahoe. I also had a Subaru outback previously that had Michelin X ice snow tires on it. That car was amazing in the snow and was simply unflappable. I was able to test it out on an icy parking lot where I also tested the Subaru. Basically going fast and...

    Looking for softer ride

I put on the 19'' Quatrac Pros based on the positive reviews here on a few forums, as a first attempt to smooth out the ride a bit and alleviate the road noise. For me, there is no significant difference versus the standard Contis. The QPs are probably a little bit quieter on the freeway, and...

    Looking for softer ride

I talked to Griffin Moterwerke in Berkeley and he said it's a 8 hour install for the coilovers. He says it takes a long time to tune properly, and they redo other poor installations. He seemed pretty informed, knows the head of UPP well and has experience with MPP as well. That said, he was very...
