Just to close this one out, Tesla came out and replaced the battery with an AGM type, P/N 1480221-00-A = $232. It also involved 'Vehicle configuration update' for the different battery type. Great service, can't complain.

Yeah all things considered to have the battery replaced in my driveway just over $300 is surprising. As for BMW, I have owned one before. I never needed the battery changed but the pain of the brake costs (multiple times) was enough to convince me to never consider another one.

100% this is what it is, exacerbated by colder weather or wet brakes (eg after washing the car).

If anything it bought Tesla some time to get many more cars outside the warranty period so it becomes YOUR problem (not that they considered this yellowing a defect to begin with anyway). I've had my screen running in dark mode since it was re-cured, maybe I need to switch back to daylight mode...

As an owner of a 2017 that has had perfectly working functions 'broken' with software updates I can confirm the list doesn't tend to get shorter over time either, it just stays broken or flagged as 'beta'....aka, broken. :mad:

Heatherbrae kind of sucks (at least last time I was there it did). The Motel was closed, the Caltex next door wasn't operational so we had to walk about 500 meters down to the Macca's along the muddy edge of the Pacific Highway, fun!
