Ditto above. Very irritating. Not sure what heck is going on. Noticed before and after I got FSD computer installed last week.

Obviously and unfortunately, lots of variation in service centers (experience, customer service, expertise, etc). No difference than ICE experience with different dealers/service centers.

Where are you located? Just curious. Also, did you put in a request just for HW3 computer installation or for FSD upgrade (purchase or monthly prescription, which then prompts the service request for computer upgrade)? Maybe that is the difference.

Actually, I wrote in the free text request “FSD computer upgrade.” Did not write HW3.0 upgrade. Just used that term in my post.

Don’t see it either. Bought EAP last month. Just saw it was set to 2. Didn’t realize it. I usually keep at 3-4. Just switched it back with the wheel scroll. Perhaps it reset with the last software update.

Was viewing this from my perspective of having to get HW3 installed as my mental model was I don’t have HW3 (and can’t get it unless I have FSD). I upgraded to EAP on the 30th.

I bought my car Feb 2019. Don’t have HW3, hence my question to start the thread.

Appreciate your thoughtful and thorough response (agree with all the limitations you laid out). But the bottom line answer looks like only HW3 will get the rewrite and hence only owners with FSD based on your assessment as nobody has HW3 except FSD owners.

Do you know how much Tesla charges if someone wanted to upgrade to HW3? There would obviously have to be some significant improvement with EAP and not just FSD in that case.

I have been reading a lot about how the rewrite will significantly improve FSD. So I am to assume that the rewrite will have no impact on EAP as this will only improve cars with HW3?

I bought it. Drive to work on highway so worth it for me. Performance is as advertised. Of course it has limitations as any L2 system will have. Works well for me.
