All persons listed on the registration must be present to sign at delivery. If you are trading in a vehicle, the registered owner must also be present.

What do I need to bring with me to delivery?

  • Your driver's license (for all registrants)
  • Copy of your current auto insurance (or proof of Tesla policy, if required)
  • Final payment (if you are picking up your vehicle in a Tesla sales licensed state)
That's what mine has shown since Friday after I changed from paying via finance to cash, and no trade in. No message regarding 48 hour contact.

Yeah, i've had this message since Thursday Evening at 10pm PST. I'll let you all know if i actually hear from anyone.
 
My AWD says the same but still also lists estimated delivery as Sep-Nov.

I've never changed anything from the day I configured (7/8). Last Friday night I noticed the new "confirm everything" page and the updated status page language along with everyone else, apparently. I swear at one point during the update process I did also see mention of 48 hours because I freaked since I'm planning to convert some stock to pay for this and have been sitting on my hands hoping for minor increases in stock value :)

But as late reservationist (2/17) and a 7/8 configuration date, non-P AWD, I have been thinking I would be late in that Sep-Nov delivery estimate window. Mentally I've written off that transient 48-hour message as possibly some programming artifact of Tesla's rejiggering the overall process somehow.

So...would anyone that opted for financing suggest that due to the fact that a banks interest rates only being good 30 days that - your car has to be delivered within 30 days to avoid going through this process again?
 
Yeah, i've had this message since Thursday Evening at 10pm PST. I'll let you all know if i actually hear from anyone.

You know...I never received an email or a call stating the fact that I needed to complete my Financing. I just kept checking the website and saw that the Financing part of the "To Do" list was yellow ( previously grey ) and I just went in and updated it. This was Saturday.

I then had some questions about my financing and decided to email them on Saturday - and then in utter shock...they answered. After a few back and forth emails...ON SATURDAY....I completed my financing and now this is my next step. It doesn't say anything about 48 hours or anything.

BTW....my delivery time span is still Aug.'18 - Oct.'18.

Sooo…..I'm just waiting for them to "finish my contract" - whatever that means. I'm leary about this because I don't know if they are going to call or email or text. My only form of communication has been when I reached out to them via email. Maybe I will have to send a daily email or place a daily call.

I wouldn’t worry too much. I actually don’t think that this updated page means VIN/delivery imminent. My page still shows Sept-Nov delivery.
They had better make something imminent.....especially since my quote is only good for 30 days.

I love Tesla, however I'm not going to secure this loan without having a car to show for it.

Absolutely. I leased my X through Tesla and they explicitly told me do not complete the credit app until we tell you are within a couple of weeks of deliver because all credit approvals last only 30 days. And it the approval lapses you have to do it again.

However, this does not mean you should not have all of your paperwork gathered and ready to go early. Just don't submit for approval too early.

I submitted for approval because I'm ready to go. I have all of my ducks in a row.



Or at least "All of my ducks on the road". lol
 
I tried the auto finance email address this morning but got a blow off response... "When you are within 30 days delivery of your Tesla an Inside Sales Advisor will be reaching out to you to confirm the final process including how to apply and take delivery of your Tesla."

Is there another address you'd recommend?

I just wish they would have said, "a specialist will contact you soon." Why put a time limit on yourself when you have no intention of meeting it? Their email forms on their website are the same. They tell you that they'll get back to you in 48 hours, but they NEVER get back to you. I don't mind waiting, but I do mind being lied to. If they were giving me a free car, or a ridiculously inexpensive car, I wouldn't care what they did. For $80K, I don't think its ridiculous to expect a little bit better communication.

@garlan, how are you emailing them? I've tried using the email form on their webpage twice and have waited weeks and received no reply despite a "48 hour" reply being promised. Is there an actual email address that we can send an email to? The last time I called CS, the guy told me he'd send me an email that I could reply to, but he never did. Its getting ridiculous.

i got the same email when asking about changing from cash to financing. This is the first time i've actually gotten a response from Tesla on any email i've sent them...

It's disappointing because, as far as they know, I'm paying with cash. So why would anyone ever reach out to me about financing?

I'm really concerned that my order will be held up by this. Neither the email response nor the person I spoke to when I called on Saturday have inspired any confidence that they're on top of this.
