2014 autopilot stalk - difference between silver button and pushing forward?

I believe the silver button on the end and pushing forward will both cancel it? But not sure why both exist when one function could do the job.

That's why they eliminated the silver button in later years.

I think silver button was for regular cruise control like on Classic cars. Autopilot hardware was shipping for almost a year before they turned it on in 2015 so the early AP cars needed to function the same as pre-AP.
