Haven't read through the slew of posts for this, so apologize if it's in there somewhere. Looks like the ventilated seats are still not offered? I also remember hearing rumor about storage pockets in the inner door panels like on the X. Looks like that didn't make the update either?

Correct. My current GUESS is that they're working through existing supply of next-gen and then will switch to shared seats with the X. Probably a few months out.

If you have NEMA 14-50 and it can't charge at 48A, you can tell the car to charge at 40A. The higher capacity charger would require a wall connector with more robust wiring and breaker anyway. What's the current wiring setup?

The mobile connector plugged into a NEMA14-50 will limit it to 40 amps. If you want to go above, will have to get a HPWC. There is no way they can safely pull more than 40amps continuous on a 14-50.

Wondering if they are redesigning the HPWC as it isn't currently available in the store. But charging at 48amps will require a 60amp breaker and appropriate wire size. Right now there is no 60 amp breaker is a dip switch option on the HPWC per the web page, so would have to be sized to 80 amp.

I was going to go with the basic NEMA 14-50 and have it installed this Friday, but now since this update i want to make sure i can take full advantage of the 48 amp on board charger. It looks like they did this so more people will just go with the tesla wall connector. is my guess anywho.....

After more research, continuous draw limit on the 14-50 is 40A. So if you want 48A it seems you'll need the wall connector and at least a 60A breaker... Or get the higher cap charger for even more juice on the HPWC... Just make sure you get the proper wire gauge. My experience any licensed electrician can do this work but the "Tesla approved" people charge more.

Yes, the new HPWC will have a rotary switch for the circuit breaker setting of 80A for 64A charging

Yay. Having placed an order end March (it was my birthday after all), it was initially for beating the alleged price increase on 1st April.

I was a little peeved and was thinking of cancelling as it didn't happen.

Then I see all this flurry of activity. And Yes, I received the email too :) The old nose cone was the only thing I didn't like so prefer the newer design and happy to benefit from the new lights. I was hoping for vented / facelifted seats too, but understand that's not been announced (yet).

Regarding price, if I spec up the same car to the one I ordered 10 days ago, it's now GBP 5,100 more which is over USD 7,200 (!!) so it will be costly to cancel now and re-order later.

My confirmation / locking in will be this coming Friday 15th...

Can anyone tell me having the standard 48amp charger (old one was 40amp ..right?) will I need to have my receptacle at home rated at 60amps? so i can take the most juice? or is this not possible, since the max the receptacle can handle is 50amps.

The traditional answer is to hardwire an EVSE for anything over 40a EVSE / 50 a circuit. HPWC will do what you need if you have the wiring and breaker to support 60a curcuit.

I' m going to ask the same thing if my ordered choice of piano black is no longer available.

I had this very same question so I shot an e-mail to my delivery specialist. My delivery specialist just confirmed (2 minutes ago) that piano black decor would come with my car, even though it's no longer an option in the design studio. To change anything there would be a $500 fee on top of the new book price (a $1500 increase).

I ordered my car on 3-29-16 and confirmed on 4-5-16.

Did they say you were getting any updates at all? New nose? Mine confirmed same date.

You generally want a breaker rated 20% over the current to be passed through, like a 50A breaker for 40A continuous current (prior single charger rating), 100A breaker for 80A wall connector etc... Not sure if you can change to a 60A breaker and still charge at 48A through NEMA 14-50 (but I would like to know as that's my current setup!)

Not by code, they don't like the jack and breaker having different ratings. Over 40A continuous you aren't supposed to use NEMA 14-50 there is a NEMA 14-60 but most jurisdictions tell you to hardwire instead. No sockets over 14-50 allowed for residential use.
I'm confused by this image:

It makes it seem as though Bioweapon Defense Mode can happen automatically. I thought it was something you had to manually assign. Does this mean the car will sense when too many intrusive fumes, etc., have entered the cabin and activate BDM on its own?

I don't know of any way the computer would know to set that mode, I think the auto is for fresh air vs recirculate and the bio defense mode is manual only.
