2021.44.6 Question Re Supercharging Improvements

This site may earn commission on affiliate links.
"Your car's Supercharging performance has been improved. As usual, when you navigate to a Supercharger from the touchscreen display, your car will precondition its battery during the drive, to reduce charging time upon arrival."

What improvements are they talking about? Pre-Conditioning isn't new. Or are there other subtle improvements to charging speed/profile etc not mentioned?

Preconditioning has been happening sooner for a few releases now. It's been reported here, and there are multiple posts per day on local facebook groups here as the weather has gotten cold. Everyone assumes the car is broken / their mileage will suck because preconditioning starts 1.5h away from the SC. The method has changed... it seems to heats the motors less and heat the pack gently instead of circulating a very hot liquid in a very cold pack. It might not be taking more power overall, no one has compared I think.
I've seen some target heating temperatures change, in conditioning the cabin, or max regen value be different for same battery temperature. Tesla have been optimizing all sorts of things.
One could think that they might be playing around with the minimum battery temperature temperature required for full SC power, that sort of thing. Maybe they've tweaked the charging curve independently of temperature too... Tell us what you see.
