So they quietly raised the base by $5K. My suspicion of them jerking around tempest orders could be real as I believe there to be supply chain issues and margin reductions in the S at $79K. Upgrading to the 21s probably helped because of the mark up there but also, I bet they were hoping on cancelled orders due to “poor” communication to get out of existing MPVA’s at the old price.

The non tin foil hat theory is the price increase was always part of the plan and those of us who ordered early and stuck it out got a special deal now

Exactly. So that move to 21s to actually get your car will now be $9500

Ordered in January. MSM with black interior. 19” wheels with FSD. Closest service center/delivery center Maplewood, MN. EDD was March, then June, then August, now blank for well over a month…I can’t even remember when i had a date listed there!

Glad I put in the color change (Dark Blue Metallic to Solid Black) before the price change. I suppose there is a production advantage to a price increase -- a lot fewer design changes with the addition of a $5000 disincentive.

When I took delivery of my 3 in 2018, I went and saw it in the parking lot when it was dropped off on a Sunday and there were gaps everywhere. Somehow by the time I took delivery, they had made adjustments and it looked great.
