First post - went to swap the mid-bass door speakers on my 24 RWD car for Audison AP8s using the Amped Garage 3d printed adapters and the factory plug seems to have changed ?

The green plug I had pre-wired to the speakers and seems to be the standard plug supplied with kits from multiple manufacturers so looks like they have changed it for the 24MY. :(

It looks like the plug is made by the same supplier but is a mirror image of the previous years from the photo of the speaker connector.

I found a supplier in the UK but should be available from other local sources:

Just in case it is helpful to anyone else as I have had to put the door back together and order/wait for the proper connectors..

Diameter of hole in door is 170mm (6.8 inches) but the window mechanism limits depth in the door. The thin plastic surround flaps around when you have removed the 8mm bolts and speaker..

BTW The sound deadening sheet on the outer skin was properly rollered after the photo! ;)

Thanks

Gavin

Wonder if they flipped male and female? The part numbers for the connectors are same for the old and new M3 according to the online manual.

I think the tweeter terminals are different as well - tried to remove one and the factory plug fell to pieces as looks like it was just jammed in it. It also didn’t have the tabs like the tweeter so wonder if a make shift general 2 pin plug was used. Waiting for a service appointment to fix the ‘broken tweeter’.

Did the door panel come off and go back on easily?

I want to check the dash mids next but seems more involved in the M3H due to the lighting trim.

Which midbass units are you fitting?

Assume the Amped Garage rings fitted?

It looks like both the green (pre-MY24) and grey versions (MY24) are both male 2-pins. The door panel was really tight and I would recommend getting a door wedge trim remover as it would have made it a LOT easier. I had lost mine but have a replacement now ready for the passenger door. I had bolted the Audison AP8 speaker into place thinking I was done and only realised the plug had changed when trying to connect it back up..

It looks like just the shape of the plug has changed but hopefully I will get a chance today to try and fit them again.

The factory plug needs to plug into the same fitting in the OEM speaker as shown below:

Good news - speakers are in and working - part numbers shown above are correct. Having a door wedge removal tool made getting the passenger door card off MUCH easier than the driver's one.

Initial listening impression is better low end but need a few hours of running in before can draw any conclusions.. :)
