Did a road trip from Ann Arbor MI to West Palm in 24 hours. 1350 miles
Left at 3am. Arrived at 3:15am. Ok so 15 minutes more than 24 hours.
Hit the following Super Chargers:
Grove City
Charleston
Wytheville
Columbia
Savannah
Kings Island
Port Orange
Melbourne (10 Min) Still no meter. Just wanted to see it without one.
Used abetterrouteplanner. Was very comfortable with 15% as buffer. Longest stop was 43 minutes. Many were in the 18 to 25 min range. Only three unscheduled stops. Kids surprisingly have bigger bladders as they have grown.
Family of four. With Moderate luggage. Inverter plugged in entire time powering two Laptops and other traveling essentials.
Auto pilot was on 85% of time according to me. Wife said she was using it 95%. I was sleeping....so could not verify her account.
We had great weather until a bit of rain in SC, and no traffic delays to speak of.
So I guess I share this to say it can be done with ease for a family. Super charging in some of those locations provided the kids places to throw the football around in a hotel parking lot, or just get the silly beans out. You just can't do that at a gas station. I know many people would find a trip like this a horror. I totally understand. Road trips are pretty much my middle name. I did this trip the previous year in an ICE with nothing but cruise control. Just a night and day difference. Much more relaxing.
Had to move the car a couple times as stalls had reduced output. Can't really think of anything negative really. Car performed flawlessly.
So car just rolled over 20k. Its at Tesla Palm Beach getting serviced, and uncorked. Very professional service and sales team.
Best thing was about ten minutes before the end of the trip was a login to my Tesla and a VIN for my Model 3. I have been checking for a couple days straight after seeing the cars lined up in the various Youtube videos. I was so ready for bed. Then I saw that. Was like three espressos at once.
