75 and 75D variants increased performance from July 1st - software and hardware improvements?

Elon talked a few months ago that that Model Y was going to have a tap directly off the main battery pack to run the 12V systems directly without a separate battery.

I thought Elon said there would be no 12V system in the Model Y. That they would be moving to something else like 48V.

As far as the 100kWh pack having a 12V pickup, I highly doubt it or @wk057 would have told us about it when her opened up his 100kWh pack.

Newer packs, including the 100 packs and newer 90/75 packs, have a 12V standby supply inside the pack that is used by the X and newer S's (started a little before the refresh IIRC). This doesnt replace the 12V battery, it just provides separate 12V power to the MCU and the body control module while the main pack contactors are open so that the 12V battery and the main pack contactors don't get cycled as much.

The 100kWh still has a 12V battery - for reliability, emergencies, alarm (like when high voltage circuit is disconnected externally), etc. but if the most of the drain is from the main battery you skip the middleman.
Otherwise you use DC-DC converter to charge 12V battery from 350/400V (heat loses and cycles) and that involves engaging HV connectors all the time for it to then power 12V electronics.
Dead 12V - car won't start. Common problem for early Teslas.

Anyway. My speculation. It would certainly make sense to equalize internals of all Model S batteries.

EDIT.
Ninjaed by the experts ;)

That did not take long ... Tesla to discontinue cheapest version of Model S (75 RWD) ahead of Model 3 launch

Tesla is now about to discontinue the cheapest version of Model S, the 75 kWh battery pack with the rear-wheel-drive powertrain.
Tesla salespeople have started contacting potential buyers and Tesla owners who have expressed interest in upgrading their car to let them know that the powertrain option on the Model S will soon not be available.

The company confirmed to Electrek that discontinuing the option is in the plans by the end of the year – without any firm date for now.
At $69,500, the Model S 75 with a single rear-wheel-drive motor is the cheapest new Tesla vehicle currently available with the Model S 75D with dual motor all-wheel-drive being the second cheapest at $74,500.

Unless the vehicle is being replaced by something else, all Tesla vehicles, Model S or X, will be dual motor all-wheel-drive.
The Model 3 is also expected to have a dual motor option, but CEO Elon Musk said that early production will be dedicated to rear-wheel-drive units in order to streamline production. The base $35,000 Model 3 before incentive will be for the rear-wheel drive version of the car.

The move should help further differentiate Model S and Model 3.On top of being bigger, quicker, and having more options, the Model S still also has the advantage of having the opportunity to have free unlimited access to Tesla’s Supercharger network if purchased through the referral program by the end of the year. The Model 3 is expected to be on Tesla’s new pay-per-use model when it comes to Supercharging.

I wonder if a price drop is coming or Autopilot will be standard next.

From FB, allegedly a new 75 car.

Spoke to a sales rep and they said the SAS has been effective for 1-2 weeks now. The other standard features is only for cars going into production today. They had a conference call last night about the standard features. The also sounded pretty fishy about price decrease. They said "it's something they can't disclose or go into detail about right now." I expect a price decrease around the discontinuation of 75s or even before. I keep on hearing that there is also an update that "might" be coming or those who missed the DU hardware upgrade. I have heard it from sales reps and account specialist.

Can you please elaborate? Does this mean possibly refreshed 75D's might be getting some type of acceleration upgrade?

Mind sharing who you heard this from?
Like I said it wasn't exactly said, it was hinted at. They said not to worry too much about missing out on the DU hardware upgrade and their might be a upgrade for current DU hardware in the future. A account specialist who normally looks at your codes and account information said this. I just took it as him rambling, but an actual sales rep also said the same exact thing. So, it left me with the impression that it might be in the works or something.

Thanks for clarifying, very interesting!

Well, this could be interpreted in a number of ways. One is "don't worry about missing the speed upgrade, after the next adjustments there will be things the fast 75 buyers are missing out too (like making 85D the base at similar price - which btw it looks like is heading this way since the new 75's reported here seem to be sw limited 85's already). And of course you can always upgrade by trading up to a new car which will contribute to more 75 CPO's that will be much appreciated by Model 3 buyers who don't want to wait 2 years for their car" ;)
