Elon talked a few months ago that that Model Y was going to have a tap directly off the main battery pack to run the 12V systems directly without a separate battery.
I thought Elon said there would be no 12V system in the Model Y. That they would be moving to something else like 48V.
As far as the 100kWh pack having a 12V pickup, I highly doubt it or @wk057 would have told us about it when her opened up his 100kWh pack.
So battery is the same. Software it is!
85 rated at 278kw (373hp)Hmm. That's basically what my S85 does (325 kW max). Is that enough to shave off 1s? I suppose they will ramp the power up more quickly.
85D = 311kw so depending on if the new car has a software limited 85kwh pack and weighs the same as an 85D or 90D. If it's still a 75 pack then probably 100kg lighter so a little less power, maybe 290 300kwHi Mike75, thanks. What is the basis for thinking it will be 310-320 kW?
I wonder if a price drop is coming or Autopilot will be standard next. That did not take long ... Tesla to discontinue cheapest version of Model S (75 RWD) ahead of Model 3 launch
Tesla is now about to discontinue the cheapest version of Model S, the 75 kWh battery pack with the rear-wheel-drive powertrain.
Tesla salespeople have started contacting potential buyers and Tesla owners who have expressed interest in upgrading their car to let them know that the powertrain option on the Model S will soon not be available.
The company confirmed to Electrek that discontinuing the option is in the plans by the end of the year – without any firm date for now.
At $69,500, the Model S 75 with a single rear-wheel-drive motor is the cheapest new Tesla vehicle currently available with the Model S 75D with dual motor all-wheel-drive being the second cheapest at $74,500.
Unless the vehicle is being replaced by something else, all Tesla vehicles, Model S or X, will be dual motor all-wheel-drive.
The Model 3 is also expected to have a dual motor option, but CEO Elon Musk said that early production will be dedicated to rear-wheel-drive units in order to streamline production. The base $35,000 Model 3 before incentive will be for the rear-wheel drive version of the car.
The move should help further differentiate Model S and Model 3.On top of being bigger, quicker, and having more options, the Model S still also has the advantage of having the opportunity to have free unlimited access to Tesla’s Supercharger network if purchased through the referral program by the end of the year. The Model 3 is expected to be on Tesla’s new pay-per-use model when it comes to Supercharging.
Spoke to a sales rep and they said the SAS has been effective for 1-2 weeks now. The other standard features is only for cars going into production today. They had a conference call last night about the standard features. The also sounded pretty fishy about price decrease. They said "it's something they can't disclose or go into detail about right now." I expect a price decrease around the discontinuation of 75s or even before. I keep on hearing that there is also an update that "might" be coming or those who missed the DU hardware upgrade. I have heard it from sales reps and account specialist.

From what they've been hinting at, its possible. Might not be a full 1 sec, but it seems like something might be in the works. Can you please elaborate? Does this mean possibly refreshed 75D's might be getting some type of acceleration upgrade?
Like I said it wasn't exactly said, it was hinted at. They said not to worry too much about missing out on the DU hardware upgrade and their might be a upgrade for current DU hardware in the future. A account specialist who normally looks at your codes and account information said this. I just took it as him rambling, but an actual sales rep also said the same exact thing. So, it left me with the impression that it might be in the works or something.Mind sharing who you heard this from?

Well, this could be interpreted in a number of ways. One is "don't worry about missing the speed upgrade, after the next adjustments there will be things the fast 75 buyers are missing out too (like making 85D the base at similar price - which btw it looks like is heading this way since the new 75's reported here seem to be sw limited 85's already). And of course you can always upgrade by trading up to a new car which will contribute to more 75 CPO's that will be much appreciated by Model 3 buyers who don't want to wait 2 years for their car"They said not to worry too much about missing out on the DU hardware upgrade and their might be a upgrade for current DU hardware in the future.
