I just got assigned a VIN that threw me and my Allstate Insurance agent for a loop. 7SA is not in their system. There appears to be sketchy info on the internet saying X and Y will have 7SA as the first three of the VIN. Anyone else know about this?
Same thing happened to me. It took a while to sort it out, but it's a legit VIN, lots of other posts out there with the same. My insurance (USAA) had to force the VIN through, their systems couldn't make sense of it either.
5YJ = Manufacturer: Tesla Inc., Vehicle Type: Passenger Car (Designated for Model S & Model 3)
7SA = Manufacturer: Tesla Inc., Vehicle Type: MPV (Designated for Model X & Model Y)
This seems common enough. My agent also had to override the VIN validator for a 7SA vin. It must be a sufficiently common issue that agents can force it. They couldn't override my mailing address reject though.
No. You pay the day before delivery or at delivery if you are using certified check.
Once you get the VIN, you immediately start financing. You will need a MVPA generated by Tesla which goes to the bank or CU. Loan officers need to verify everything before final approval.
