Each person has near the same carbon footprint, the size of their state is not relevant in that respect. We can choose to make a difference, or we can choose not to.
The big states with their big budgets should be setting the agenda.

Tasmanian power crisis: Turnbull stumps up for study of $1bn duplicate cable

Agreed Paulp, the data supports that regardless the size of the market the same per capita investment is required. Look at the article I have linked above. The good old government is going to invest 1 BiLLION doubling the basslink cable. You only have the ask what could be provided in terms of renewables with this money!! A 30-40% subsidy on wind and solar installations could easily see 1 GW of capacity installed. Or even just directly investing it (100% subsidy) would provide Tasmania with the 300 MW of capacity it requires. The solar could be deployed very quickly on residential/commercial installations, imagine investing the $15 million a month they're currently spending on diesel for temp power in solar instead. Just plain terrible policy decisions....they double the basslink and they keep on providing demand for Victorian brown coal or they spend it on renewables providing Tasmania with energy independence almost exclusively from renewables. Tough choice?
