Any NZ Tesla owners outside of Auckland?

Currently I live in Auckland so this isn't exactly an issue for me right now but I'm not sure how permanent that will be. I plan on getting a Model 3 in the next few months (waiting to see what's happening with the governments EV subsidy plans) but am wondering, what happens if you don't live in Auckland and the car needs service? Do they have mobile service techs in the other cities or does the car have to be shipped to Auckland (or soon Christchurch)?

The same question goes for body work. I see there are body shops in Christchurch and Dunedin now as well but what happens if you're in Wellington and someone crashes into you? Since there's no approved Tesla body shop in Wellington would the car have to be shipped to the Auckland body shop?

In both scenarios, if the car has to be shipped who pays for that?

Tesla approved body shop is just a reason for them to charge more; it's just a tin can on wheels like all the rest.

Right...but if the car needs parts doesn't the store need to be Tesla approved before they can order them?
Nope. I took out a tail light by backing into a parked truck; opened up the back like a tin can.
Un-approved fixer rang Tesla who told him the safety requirements for welding aluminum - all good.
I ordered the light assembly myself to be sure I got it - prox $500.

Would Tesla still honor the warranty on a car that has been repaired by a shop that isn't certified? Especially when if the repair involves touching the HV equipment or structural body work?

I am hoping they will have Tesla Mobil Service running in Christchurch soon after I get my Model 3 P- to sort out any teething problems.

From the Tesla NZ website Body Shop Support in Christchurch they use Paint & Panel Specialists | Collision Repairs | Panelbeating & Panelbeaters | Gary A Smith | Christchurch NZ for body shop repairs.
I have never heard of them, but they look like they do BMW, Merc, Volvo etc.
The biggest issue will be getting our insurance company (State) to agree to use them.

If they do BMW, Merc etc, that's the best reason to NOT use them; they have been practicing overcharging.
Fixing a Tesla bodywork is no different to any other.

Dragging up old thread. I see Tesla are listing a Service Centre coming 2019 in Christchurch. Does anyone have any more detail on this?
Yeah it's been on the "Coming soon" list for a few months now, basically since the Superchargers opened in Christchurch. It's listed as an 8051 postcode on the website which is around the airport area so if you're in Christchurch it could be worth doing a drive around the new industrial area there and see if anything looks obvious.
