We all know Elon's take on LIDAR at this point, but since Tesla's AP/FSD is camera/vision-based system, would a HEAVY fog shut down its capability and potentially the entire Robotaxi fleet? A quick youtube search yields some very unsettling results (albeit dated firmware versions). There probably isn't an answer to my question at this point, but curious if this discussion has happened here(quick search yielded minimal results),
AP having hell of a time in HEAVY Fog,
LIDAR demo detecting obstruction in heavy "simulated" fog,
Per video uploader: "Radar is almost robust against fog – thus, having practically no performance degradation due to fog. But the problem is resolution which is still too far to enable pattern recognition demanded by automated driving. LiDAR has excellent or at least sufficient resolution but 905 nm band suffers significant visibility degradation in dense fog. Therefore, we are developing something completely different in our journey towards 24/7 automated vehicles"
