Was contacted today by a delivery specialist for the first time. Was a bit shocked when they said my car was arriving in Decatur today (AWD non-P - details posted on page 1) and this was the first contact. I filled out the trade-in info a few hours after I got the call and now waiting for them to give me a $$ amount so we can close this thing out.

Congrats! I believe you and I have the same configuration, so I really hope you like it. Curious to know how the trade in process goes for you. My order currently shows trade in but I have been thinking about listing it private party because I think I can get quite a bit more. Got an appraisal at CarMax last weekend for $8k and after lurking around Craigslist I feel reasonably certain I can get $10k to $11k private sale. The problem of course is I have no idea how long I would then have to rent or borrow a car until my Tesla is delivered. Thought about waiting until they call me with a 2 - 3 week notice and then listing on CL, but then I see your situation where they basically gave you a 1 say notice.

@EnrgyNDpndnce when you look into a private party sale, be sure to consider the tax implications. You are taxed on the sale price less trade-in value. I believe the rate is 6.5%, so you’d start out around $500 in the hole. I used to always sell my cars private party, but since the law changed, it is less worth the trouble. Lobbying at its best...

Linewaiter 3/31/16.
Config available in March.
Ordered mid July.
Delivery scheduled 8/7
No options at all.
Called before 2 hour drive, all is good to go.
Drive down with whole family. Arrive. Wait an hour.
Sorry 6 inch crack in glass roof. (In their defense, super hard to see). Cannot take car and schedule fix later because it could become safety issue.
I didn’t take it to well, but long story short, they should have new glass in today so I should hopefully have car next week at the latest.

Guys and gals, this is for those of you that haven't yet had the experience of driving a Model 3. Of course this is just my opinion and your mileage may vary but...

I got a call about a week ago that I could schedule a test drive at the Atlanta/Avalon store. Of course I snatched up the opportunity. Yesterday was my day. I spent about an hour with the staff there and my experience was literally everything I could hope for. The staff was knowledgeable, friendly, totally non pressure and I had a blast. A special shout out to Megan Hannon who was assigned to show me around the car. She was fabulous.

The only disappointment on the day was that I had thought that it would be in a Performance model but their two demo cars were both RWD long range models. That disappointment melted away as soon as I got in the car. I won't waste your time on the specs or my impressions because they have all been stated and restated numerous times on this forum. The one thing that I will say is that I am glad this was a RWD because it quickly showed me that the added acceleration of the Performance model is only relevant to the speed junkies out there. This RWD had more acceleration than anyone could ever want/need in daily driving. Absolutely breathtaking. I got to use autopilot on the highway which is a huge feature for me. Blown away. Just a fabulous experience all the way around.

If there was a negative, (and it really wasn't a surprise for me since I had sat in a Model 3 before) it is the rear seat leg and foot room. I know people have said that a 6' plus passenger can fit behind a 6' plus driver without a problem but in practice, at least for me, that is not going to be the case. Yes they could fit but I sure wouldn't want to be that passenger for more than a short trip down the road. For me, this is not a problem since I will rarely have an adult passenger in the back and to be clear, if they were sitting behind my 5'7" wife they would be fine. Megan was also 5'7" so I had her adjust her seat for her comfort and then got in the back behind her with no problem (I'm 6'2").

On the whole, it was a fantastic afternoon. I can't thank the staff enough. They answered all my questions in a completely relaxed, no pressure environment. Again, a HUGE shout out to Megan for walking me through this first experience with the car. Professional, courteous, funny, and completely dedicated to educating me in any and all things that I might have had a question about.

Those of you in the Atlanta area, be sure to take advantage of test driving a Model 3, or any other Tesla, at the Avalon store. They are great people. Only thing that really sucks is that now the wait for my car just became even more difficult!

Dan

I have a test drive scheduled for next Saturday (8/25), and I plan on taking 2 friends with me so that they can do the majority of the driving. Tesla already has my money, but my 2 friends have indicated that they're really interested in the car, so I figure giving them a chance to drive it may convert them.

I have driven the car myself, though, through a day rental with Turo, and I have to say my experience was very similar to yours, Dan. It was a standard LR RWD version, and the first time I floored it I was definitely surprised by how fast the car picked up. Like you said, it's more than enough for a daily driver. The problem is that I have no self-control, so I had to get that 3.5 sec acceleration from the performance model. And, I mean, if you're going P3D, might as well go P3D+ right? ;)

I spent several hours on Saturday and Sunday walking the lot in Decatur to look at colors and finishes before ordering Monday. They have a ton of Model 3’s and at least one truck showed up while I was there. Deliveries where occurring after hours Saturday and on Sunday (when they’re not normally open.)

Several M3 were the AWD Performance with PUP (red brakes visible) including a Red with White Interior (which is what I ordered minus PUP).

Ughh...that's my exact config. Wonder who's ahead of me in line for it

Update for me is that things seem to be moving slower than anticipated. I assume the delivery specialists are incredibly busy because there haven't been any delays on my side. The only issue that I ran into along the way so far was the trade-in site asked me to upload a picture of the registration which I did on Tuesday - DS called me this morning to tell me I actually needed to upload the title which I couldn't because after my submission the page was no longer editable. I called the DS back and he gave me his email address and I just emailed him the picture which solved the issue. My last phone call was this evening and everything looks good - minus my trade-in did lower the total cost but didn't lower the state taxes which doesn't seem right to me.

DS said he'd call me tomorrow morning and put me on the schedule for pickup. I still don't have instructions on how to pay.

For those who live north of Atlanta, the new service center in Alpharetta (not the Avalon showroom) is apparently now available for Model 3 deliveries. You may want to request to take delivery of your car there, given the issues Decatur seems to be having getting deliveries right, reliably.
