My 3 year old M3P (20k miles) has a bit corrosion on discs but I now also hear a very faint rubbing noise from nearside front when creeping along with windows down next to parked cars etc. So the brakes need some good use and a clean.
I’ve done some 50-0mph stops repeatedly with ReGen on Low, but noise is still there (very faint mind). So I thought let’s try the Brake Burnishing facility in Service Mode as it turns off ReGen completely, before I take it in to Tesla SC for brake strip and clean. Problem is when I enter Service Mode I see GTW Locked, but importantly Speed Limited, and can only drive the car up to a max of 7mph which is absolutely no good!
Has anybody tried Brake Burnishing and come across the Speed Limit whilst in Service Mode?

You can run it (no ReGen) without guidance or with the guidance which I did (speed to reach, brake pedal pressure, cool-down period, no of cycles etc). Only one run thru (10 cycles) and it’s definitely improved the look and feel of my brakes. I think another go or two and they may end up really shiny again! Still have some rust banding, but that’s improved considerably. (I’m also getting brake strip/clean at Tesla on Tuesday so that will ensure pads are resurfaced, pins greased etc and nice uniform pattern on discs…
