Decent MOT in the North East

Shout out to Kwikfit Washington for the MOT this morning. Despite me having a checklist the tester knew exactly what he was doing (having done quite a few over the last year). Had their own pucks for jacking car (although it was lifted on a flatbed), and knew not to put car on rolling brake...

    Buying a used M3P

My 2020 M3P will be 4 years old next month. Been a great car, now at 23k miles, and never missed a beat, other than rear spoiler was lifting off, so mobile ranger visit fitted new. Had all tyres (PS4S) replaced early at 20k miles, could have had another 10k miles easy. Other maintenance costs...

Decent MOT in the North East

My 4 year old M3P is due its 2nd MOT. Just wondering if anyone can recommend a good garage in the North East? Ideally Durham area? I took it to Kwikfit last year and, despite them saying they were fully EV-trained, it was clear the tester didn't know his way around a Model 3, struggled with...

    M3P Brake Service £358??

It cost £138 and took 5 hours. Should have been 3 hours but service tech struggled with rear parking brake, which activated whilst no brake pads in and pushed piston out. Was a bit of a drama tbh, as despite talking to tech beforehand saying please look after her… all 4 callipers were marked...

Performance Brake Caliper - Touch Up Paint Match?

Well the plot thickens, and it doesn’t half! Tesla have “tried” to source touch up paint, have accepted defeat and now booked me in for 4 new brake caliper replacements (zero cost to me, but their invoice north of £2k!!) Seems complete overkill to me, and just unsure on what to do next. Yes it...

Performance Brake Caliper - Touch Up Paint Match?

Had my 2020 M3P in at the local Service Centre for its 3 year brake strip and clean. Long story, but simple routine job resulted in scratches and chips to the red paint of the callipers. (Despite me talking to technician and emphasising “please take care” before the job!). Mobile Ranger came...

Brake Burnishing in Service Mode but Speed Limit set!!??

Ok, so got round to trying Brake Burnishing mode, and it’s quite good/effective 👍 You can run it (no ReGen) without guidance or with the guidance which I did (speed to reach, brake pedal pressure, cool-down period, no of cycles etc). Only one run thru (10 cycles) and it’s definitely improved the...

    M3P Brake Service £358??

Tesla have had to revise quotes as the initial one was an automated response which was way off and inc stuff I didn‘t need. Spoke to James at Cleverly, who gave me a lot of time and great advice, ie do a brake burnish (either in service mode or track mode, each option no ReGen). He could also...

    M3P Brake Service £358??

OK, so Tesla have just adjusted the estimate again (as they had included Cabin/Pollen filter which I got done December). Estimate now at a respectable £115 + VAT, and booked in for next Tuesday :) In terms of what they plan to do - brake strip and clean (all 4 wheels), greasing caliper/pad...

Brake Burnishing in Service Mode but Speed Limit set!!??

Speed Limit stays enabled (at 7mph) when Brake Burnishing is enabled. I tried it last night and got a bit of a shock as could only drive up to 7mph! Luckily I was very close to home! As earlier reply I have found the Remove Speed Limit option and will try this tonight.

Brake Burnishing in Service Mode but Speed Limit set!!??

My 3 year old M3P (20k miles) has a bit corrosion on discs but I now also hear a very faint rubbing noise from nearside front when creeping along with windows down next to parked cars etc. So the brakes need some good use and a clean. I’ve done some 50-0mph stops repeatedly with ReGen on Low...

    M3P Brake Service £358??

Tesla have got back and confirmed £160+VAT for brake strip and clean, plus fluid change, which is not too bad. I’m also getting some advice from Cleevely Mobile, as they can come out and do it at home.

    M3P Brake Service £358??

Thanks but I doubt they'd travel from Cheltenham to Durham for this! Pity as they look like a good outfit.
  16. M

    M3P Brake Service £358??

My M3P is 3 years old, and I've recently noticed a slight rubbing noise coming from the nearside front brake disc/pads when I'm driving slowly windows down, and next to parked cars etc. Appreciating brakes don't get used much so regularly turn-down ReGen and go through a brake burnishing...

    M3p from SR+

I've got a March 2020 M3P, 19k now on the clock. Have done several long distance trips in both Summer and Winter. In Winter I can rely on 200 miles range, and Summer around 250, maybe higher if I'm feeling brave. (Full 100% charge shows 296 miles). Of course, it's how you drive em. Enjoy...

[UK] Model 3/Y Alcantara Dash - Wish I did it years ago!

So today, after purchasing my 3 year old 2020 M3P from lease co, I had swapped out the wood dash trim for an alcantara one. Gotta say, although maybe not for everybody, it's absolutely fantastic! I wasn't expecting such a transformation, but it really does make the cabin feel a lot more...

Rumour of free premium for leases cars ending

After chasing Tusker for a few weeks, with their “working on it” response, I thought I’d give Tesla a call (01628 450660) this morning. Little bit of a wait in the queue, but without issue they enabled the Update/Subscription for me in the App. (I didn’t have to logout nor restart, although I...

    16A Phantom Battery Charge Back!?

Brilliant, thank you very much, really insightful!!! When the chargepoint was installed there’s a separate button/toggle switch (now hidden in a junction box) which toggles between 16 and 30A. The engineer forgot to set this properly as I did a quick test whilst he was onsite and the car only...

    16A Phantom Battery Charge Back!?

Always have my car on Scheduled Charge at 23:00 each night, battery limit set to 90%. Parked it in the garage last night and plugged it in (BP Chargemaster 7kW). Just gone to car this morning, and looking at the app, it took twice as long to charge last night. So jumped in car increased limit...

    Model 3 Leasing UK

Anybody coming towards the end of their lease with a purchase option? If so, just wondering what depreciation/residual values might look like? (I'm leasing an M3P, and next year will have the option to buy). But just wondering whether the quote will be crazy high, plus is it a good idea to...

Premium connectivity ended as a leasing customer

Moderator comment - thread merged from "Help - Premium Connectivity Trial Ending and Lease Car?" UK For Sale / Wanted / Free [closed for new items]

Does anybody have any of the PPF for the rear wheel arches? Want to protect mine from gravel rash/chips. I’ve got the Front mudguards new in box in case anybody wants to swap, or indeed buy them? Alternatively could anybody recommend any PPF film I could buy, rather than pay Tesla £50 for...

    Can't stop charging!

Exactly the same happened to me, twice now over last month. Seems Stop Charging option on screen is greyed out, and no amount of pressing and waiting does anything! Only way to stop charging is to use the App, then use Unlock Charge Port (App too). Really weird, same 7kW PodPoint charger, any...

    Driver side rear reflector alignment

I had exactly the same problem, and it was an easy fix. Whilst having a mobile ranger out to sort a door rattle, he also addressed this in 5 mins. Bit of a bodge fix as he said (apparently this was the official Tesla bulletin). Remove rear light, and tease out reflector enough to pack with small...

    Model 3 Headlights Dazzling Others!

That’s make a lot of sense, I did wonder whether I had a config of a LHD car (with my right headlamp raised)! The auto levelling has sorted this, but I will test tonight with your wall method and also see if anybody flashes me!!!!

    Model 3 Headlights Dazzling Others!

Think I had a different experience - when I selected the Adjust Headlights I got the “Headlights Levelling in Progress” and saw the lights go up down then up again. But the end result was a perfectly level/even left and right headlight, whereas previously the right was higher than the left. I...

    Model 3 Headlights Dazzling Others!

Had an M3P since March, and drove it just now tonight for probably the first time in the dark. Everybody was flashing me with my “dipped” headlamps on. I got home and noticed when parked up against the garage the offside headlamp seemed a little higher than the near side. But why? So went to...

Kerbed Alloy Wheels - Touch-Up Paint

I used a general rust protect touch-up pen (you can get these on Amazon and eBay) just as an initial precaution to seal the alloy. (Maybe I didn't need to, but had some lying around and didn't want to risk any grime/road salt getting in later on...) The main application was Etch Primer to...

Kerbed Alloy Wheels - Touch-Up Paint

Ok, so job done, which is not a perfect match, and I will continue to sort out a better colour match. But happy for now and nowhere near as unsightly. I applied rust protector/sealant 1st then few coats of etch primer (yellow) then the paint itself. With 1500 grade wet n dry throughout to smooth...

Kerbed Alloy Wheels - Touch-Up Paint

Thanks, I’m going to try a simple touch up, nothing to lose really. 1st option to try (and ordered) is below. (It’s apparently a great match for the aero alloys - slightly lighter shade - so not perfect for the slightly darker gunmetal 20s, but may well do). Keep reminding myself first world...

Moderator comment - Thread merged and renamed from "Kerbed 20" Alloy Wheel - Touch-Up Paint Match?" For the first time in like 20 years, I've only gone and scuffed one of my Model 3 Performance Gray 20" alloys. So I need to touch it in, but unsure on paint matches! Searching around a few...

Washington Supercharger - WARNING - Now issuing £100 parking fines

I charged there the other day and went into hotel reception to register free usage, which takes literally 10 secs. Problem with almost all electronics

I’ve had exactly the same with s/w 2020.18 and iirc .24 also. Last week screen became very slow & unresponsive whilst driving, audio died then screen froze. I seemed to trigger it putting reversing camera (now with side cameras) on whilst driving, also launching web browser had similar effect...

    Tyre rotation for M3P

That’s a great point ref overinflation. Centre wearing can be an indicator of overinflation. So I’ve just lowered all my tyres from 42 to 40 psi, and will see how I get on with that.

    Tyre rotation for M3P

I wonder whether there is something in tyre rotation? I’ve got an M3P with 20” alloys/tyres, and now have 3,000 miles on the clock. I’ve been running at the recommended 41/42 PSI all round, and have noticed slightly more wear on the inner/central band of the rears compared to the fronts. I think...

Paint damage during service centre visit - Tesla will disregard ceramic coating

They’re minor chips and in an area not massively visible. Without doubt it’s Tesla’s fault, but to de-risk the whole thing (and not invite further hassle) I’d personally touch it in myself. Or failing that get the Tesla approved body shop to do it. I’d run a mile from a full bonnet respray as...

Warranty Request and PreAuth of Work?

Out the blue had a call and text from the Leeds-based Tesla Mobile Ranger (Brad) saying he was in my area and could pop-by in 15 mins! I explained I was still working stuff out with Tusker leaseco and I hadn't yet accepted the Tesla pre-auth for £72.50+VAT. He came around anyway, sound fella...

    Repair visit to Tesla, Birmingham

Wow, imagine if they'd gone ahead with the sunroof-off work! They should have instantly known it was a simple aftermarket mod however! It's Tesla standard policy to seek prior authorisation for 30 minutes diagnosis at £72.50 + VAT on all jobs (which gets waved if it ends up being warranty...

Warranty Request and PreAuth of Work?

Just spoken to Tusker and, as expected, they state I have to go through their own booking process, and not direct with Tesla. Obviously, a pain, as Tusker and Tesla systems are way out of alignment. Tusker agent said she can book service request, but I'll have to take it to a Service Centre...
