My son snagged his backpack on the open cupholders in the backseat of my ‘18 Model S. Is there any way to replace them or reset the tension? Can I remove the console face without disturbing the A/C vents? Or do I have to take it in for service?
I think you can get to it by not removing the whole console, which is referenced in step 1 of the attached instructions in the first PDF "Cup Holder". I have enclosed the other referenced section of removing the rear vent. Thanks to FixYourTesla.
Thanks Dave, we removed the console face and fixed the problem in 30 minutes.
The first thing we did was remove both side panels to the center console, then the rear panel(above the A/C vent). There are 2 T30 screws on each side of the cup holder assembly. After removing those it just came out easily. We slid the track back in place and it seems to work fine. Putting it back together wasn’t so bad either.
