Interesting article about another benefit of electric cars
Certainly the best answer to health care costs is a healthier environment. Air and water are the two biggies.
My favorite response to the general question of "why should we give subsidies to electric cars owners that we don't give to gas car owners?" was a quick off the cuff answer by our governor, Jay Inslee, when asked about the fairness of the WA sales tax exemption for EVs:
Washington Governor Jay Inslee, a Democrat, defended the tax breaks.
"Electric cars in a sense cost the state less money in the long term," he said.
Inslee said the state has to pay to clean up pollution from gas cars.
"Electric cars don't impose that cost on the state of Washington, so it makes sense to me to have some assistance to try and develop this new technology that doesn't cost us so much in pollution," Inslee said.
I tell people I am happy to give you back the $7,500 EV tax credit if you give me back the $10,000 I paid for the Iraq war to secure our oil pipeline.
