We won’t know for sure until the budget is released but it could mean a 5k EV discount.

Obviously more of you have a provincial rebate as well.

There's an existing thread in the Canada forum. Where is the source for April Fools' day? It doesn't appear to be mentioned in the link in this thread or in similar articles on other sites. One person seems to think the amount will be a bit less than the recommendation of $5,000.

Called my local tesla office and they said they are getting updated Tuesday about it.

I read that link and also stories in two or three other outlets and I didn't see April 1st or any other date mentioned.

They would have to make it soon, though, since EV sales will stop cold pending the start date.

I just got a delivery date of March 26. I’d have to assume that if the rebate requires delivery after April that Tesla have to delay deliveries lest they get a lot of cars returned and reordered.

Looks like it’s march 19 based on this news article not April 1st so that’s good if it goes into effect right away.

They are announcing the budget march 19 which makes sense with my local tesla dealership saying they will know Tuesday. Canada's fiscal year is April 1 to March 31 Canadian Government's Fiscal Year

The fiscal year affects when the government can spend the money, but that doesn’t prevent them from covering cars purchased before then.

The feds have already acknowledged they will be implementing the recommendations, to phase out all ICE vehicles sales in Canada by 2040. Just like is already happening with coal burning power plants in Canada, it will take place over time.
Fortunately that wonderful Alberta crude can go into many other things, like fertilizer, plastics,and other chemicals. The days of gasoline appear to be numbered. Even those big pickup trucks Albertans love, are going electric.
