Car broken into, need help with sentry mode videos.

hi all, I have had my MS p100d for over two years. Yesterday my car was broken into at the golf course. They smashed my passenger window and took a work bag that had very confidential information in it along with my computers, wallet etc.

I did NOT have a usb installed (i didn't know i had too)

is there anyway of getting the recordings? please help..

There are no videos, USB drive or not. As your car is over 2 years old you have AP2 hardware - sentry mode is nothing more than a visual deterrent. It records nothing.

Sorry, you're SOL as far as Sentry recordings go. Best to check around the golf course and local businesses to see if there are any security cameras that would have seen your car.

Yeah it’s a bummer, and Tesla has outright lied about what the feature actually does on AP2 cars. Release notes state Sentry mode uploads videos to the “Tesla Cloud”, although all evidence suggests this is simply not true. Might be worth contacting them to ask for the footage and call them on their bluff.

If a properly formatted USB drive is inserted, yes, cars made after August 2017 properly record and store video.

That customer service line is really your only avenue.

Correct. The feature didn’t exist at all on earlier cars. Someone said “hey, that will make the older cars a target. Why don’t you make it look like it’s recording”... and they did.
