carwash settings

I remember watching a video long ago that I thought gave 4 settings you need to change if you want to go through a carwash. I can only remember two of them:

* know how to put the car in neutral (from drive with break on, press up one notch and hold)
* make sure the windshield wipers aren't set to auto

Are there other settings I'm not remembering or is this everything I might need for a carwash?

Don’t do it man, there’s a thread on here where the car wash threw a grip load of error codes right after and the rail that pulls the car damages the wheels. There’s other ways to wash your car safely.

Looks like the failure for that guy was the wheel speed sensor wiring rubbing on the over size aftermarket wheels and lowered suspension his car had. The water from the car wash was fuel on the fire.

That issue was reported in the M3 forum so won't, necessarily, affact MY.

Dude you can take your Tesla to the car wash no problem. It’s not going to crash your car. Here in northern cal they are used to it because every fifth car that’s washed is a Tesla, but it’s easy enough. Add to your list folding the side mirrors and your are good to go. Also bring a key card or get a fob so they don’t need the phone. One fun way if they don’t see, confident is to offer to do it for them. That way you can be a kid again and ride through the car wash!

I take my X to the car wash all the time. Every 3 weeks or so. No issues in almost 3 years.
