I have a 100 amp circuit breaker box on the inside of my garage. I got one quote so far for an upgrade to a 200 amp circuit breaker. He said due to new code that the main switch must be located on the outside of the house. That also all the circuit breakers would be cheaper to be placed with then in the same panel.
Is there an easier alternative to have this done? He said he could also have a 200 amp subpanel and have that in the garage with all the breaker there for an extra $600.
I will see what the next electrician recommends tomorrow when I get a quote from him. I do have that part of the house fenced in, so it should be protected plus I will put on a padlock. Just wandering if the breakers will last longer by putting them on the inside and if it's worth the extra $600.
