Connecticut (Mt. Kisco) AWD delivery

Haven't seen too many threads on CT deliveries. Got my model 3 a couple weeks ago and thought I'd take the opportunity to say hello and recap the experience in case anyone found it helpful.

I reserved on 4/1/16 and ordered on 7/8/18 (LR AWD midnight silver), with a trade-in, located in southern CT. Checked my Tesla account on 8/12, saw that the trade-in evaluation option was available so went ahead and submitted that. The trade-in assessment was slightly lower than expected so I got a CarMax appraisal came out higher. A delivery specialist out of Brooklyn contacted me a couple days later and we went through a few details, got a price match on my trade-in and scheduled a delivery appointment in Mt Kisco for 9/4.

After that it was basically radio silence for the next few weeks despite some efforts to contact him and finalize insurance, payment, etc. It seemed like a (unfortunately) common experience so I wasn't too concerned. A few days before my delivery appointment I called Mt. Kisco directly, spoke to a couple of very helpful people, confirmed the car would be ready, and updated all my info necessary for temp registration. No one really knew why I hadn't received a prompt in my account to submit payment yet, but it eventually popped up the day right before delivery.

Delivery process itself was a breeze, though nothing overly special about it. The Mt Kisco location is small so my car was brought in from their off-site lot and parked alongside other cars that were there for service. Paperwork was straightforward and took about ten minutes. If you're trading in make sure to bring your title and keys. If you're in CT and are applying for the CHEAPR rebate, bring a voided check so they have your routing information (also remind them of it because they almost forgot for me). They'll give you NY temp tags and then apply for CT registration on your behalf (they're outsourcing it now instead of having Tesla employees go to the DMV so it should be faster). I paid CT tax on the purchase price.

We went out to the car and they walked me through the basics and waited around while I checked it over. The car looked great (no problems with panel gaps, paint, etc.) and everything was in working order. The whole delivery process took maybe half an hour.

Overall a positive experience with some rough edges and ambiguity that all the helpful tips on these forums prepared me for. The car itself has been great!

Was there any rush on delivery or did you take as much time as you needed?

No rush at all. They introduced me to the car, set up my phone key and app, answered a few questions, then went off to finish up my trade-in (giving me the plates to return) while I continued to look over the car. Everyone there was friendly and checked in on us to answer any questions as we were fiddling around with stuff.

The reminder email I got a couple days before delivery mentioned 15 minute appointments, but I didn't feel the pressure of that at all while there.

NO EAP is the red flag my friend :).. I'm in the same boat as you and unless you are ready to cough up the $5000 for beta software to help them go green.. no dice I guess. No worries.. per tracker, Tesla will call us as early as Oct 1st week to schedule for deliveries.. there is not much trick available for Elon to play games anymore except jacking up price every week by $1000 for new orders which pretty much dried up (again per tracker).. we are the last batch of the mass order backlog.

Yep. I know.. it’s crazy .. it appears order date doesn’t not matter if you order fully loaded :) I not hurry as I got used to it now by waiting 2+ year however just wanted to get my car before CT rebate vanishes :)

oh yeah , I'm desperately watching the CHEAPR available funding trickling down slowly from 55% to 33% now in couple of months now.. hopefully it should last till end of the year as otherwise it will make a big dent in our wallet.

I got black interior and no EAP (figured it wasn't much more if I wanted to add it later). Maybe I got lucky with the color choice and what they happened to have in the queue. It was manufactured recently, I think August.
 
Thanks for the info...especially regarding reminding them about the CHEAPR program. I might not have otherwise realized that needs to happen when I pick up the car...

I live in CT and had a similar experience at Mt Kisco last week.. car was perfect.. process went smooth.. but I didn't give them the check or sign the delivery confirmation paper until I thoroughly checked the car over (was missing the cap on the tires valve).. and they were good about it... car arrived three days before I picked it up...

Any word on how to track the car once the VIN is provided and how it is being shipped to Mt Kisco ? so folks who are waiting can use that approach to track
 
@peteerrr Congrats on the delivery! And thanks for sharing! Do you know how long before pick up your car arrived in Mt Kisco? I’m scheduled to pick up there Friday but as of today my car was still in Ohio....

I called the Friday before my Tuesday delivery (holiday weekend) and my car was already at their off-site lot but not prepped for delivery yet, not sure how early it got there.
 
I had my delivery scheduled for 9/20 but got a call today saying the delivery is delayed and new date is now 9/25. Guess I can wait couple more days.
Question for some of you taking delivery - what was the price on your car more than $60k or less. I understand to qualify for CHEAPR it needs to be $60k or less. My overview shows the price of $61.5k

When I called and talked to the CHEAPR person, she told me options doesn't count and for some reason they are considering only the base price for the rebate qualification and both RWD and AWD qualifies irrespective of how much we load with options.. you can call and confirm tomorrow.. P doesn't quality due to higher base price.
