Dechrome M3 Suggestions

Hi all,

I’ll soon be in charge of new red performance model 3. Not sure when it’s due to be delivered but I’m planning a few things in anticipation...

Firstly I’m looking to copy this car in terms of dechrome and colour coded door handles.

Can someone recommend a few locations in the UK ( I’m in Birmingham) that have carried out your dechrome ?

I guess the door handle colour coding may be the hardest bit....

Have you considered Plastidip?

Not really no as I’m happy to pay a decent rate for a proper vinyl wrap job that will last to be honest.

Maybe our chrome delete kit consists of thin ABS shells is also an option. Takes less than 20 mins to install and to me it looks even better than wrapping. The red door handle glue decals will also arrive soon with the exact color match, stick and play.

Ah thanks. That looks pretty good actually. Is it a smooth finish over the existing chrome and doesn’t stick out?

Haha due to the thickness of the shell, unfortunately the door mirror base cannot be covered, for the chrome delete for this part the mirror cover will need to be removed then apply the wrapping.

Shame as that would be a good option.

I’m very interested as to how close you’ll get with the red door handle colour coding. Very few in any seems to be able to do this on a multi coat paint.

Have you thought doing it yourself, it's pretty straight forward - here's mine, bought from Nikola Pro and they do a colour match for the handles if you request it:

Agreed however I’m utterly useless at stuff like this. My other concern is how far from the original colour this kit is on the door handles

I have the handles colour matched as well in grey, yes not perfect, but I prefer it to the chrome or black as the lines of the car flow better in my opinion. You could always order the handles and try those first?

I wonder whether it’s feasible to have them painted given this would also make them more hard wearing...

I’m dropping mine here straight after collection next week, I’ll post some pics when it’s done. Mines white but if you look at their pics, there is a red one that looks amazing.

Will be interesting to know how wrapped door handles and folding door mirrors will stand up to winter freezing issues.

Yes they will colour code the door handles. I’ve still not decided yet whether to go for white handles or black, but they offer both. I’ll see if if they’ve got any pics of cars with red handles. They also wrap enough of the handle so you don’t see the chrome like you do with some of the DIY kits.

Black door handles on a red car look awful.

I too would be very much interested in getting my door handles colour coded, though.
