Does this used MS have FSD?

Hey TMC! I'm looking at used model S's and found (and already paid to ship across the country via carmax) this 2018 MS 75D and wanted to verify that it did indeed have the full self-driving paid for/installed/etc? Thanks in advance!

It's running the FSD beta firmware, so it DID have the FSD software package at some point in the past.

Unfortunately it's impossible to know from that picture if you'll keep it or not once you transfer ownership to yourself. If ownership of the car reverted to Tesla before Carmax got it (say as a trade-in or lease return), they will strip the feature out and make you buy it again.

It has FSD beta software so it does have FSD as of that picture. But you can’t tell from that if it has permanently activated FSD or FSD subscription. If you can scroll up higher on the page it will tell you.

I didn't think they had a subscription back in 2018, I thought it was a fixed 3k? Also, I don't believe it went through Tesla before going to carmax (at least based on the autocheck)

Finally got to see the car in person (arrived from cali) and snapped this photo, it looks like carmax took it into their own inventory and registered it with tesla under their own name (KMX) and still has FSD?

Changing the car name doesn’t necessarily mean they have registered the car. You might want to confirm that

No, it’s not definitive, but we know that when a previous owner doesn’t release a car from their Tesla account, the call center reps can use this method to confirm new ownership. And yes - they typically ask the new owner to set the car name to a random 3-letter string.

So I’m guessing ownership here was transferred. But just a guess.
