Double-charged by Tesla?

I’m having the opposite problem. Paid by echeck last Saturday and the salesman said it went through, but the funds are still in my account.... I’m not sure what to do...
I paid ACH on a Saturday, they accepted it and released the car which was delivered on Sunday. It wasn't until he following Tue that I saw the funds disappear from my account. Don't know if this is a quick of the banking system, or if Tesla takes my word for it when I provided account and routing number...

Same ACH. Routing checking and the next day 2 withdrawals instead of just 1
 
So, here's been my play by play.

-- Feb 9 --

This is my first Tesla order and ordered a Model 3 LR on Feb 9 2021. I submitted the $100 deposit. I was excited about all the hype.

I had been talking to my Tesla sales advisor "J" who said that the car would be delivered to my home since it was out of delivery distance but he would manually override it.

-- March 24 --

I get an email on March 24 2021 to submit the final balance on the car.

I log into my account, and there are two options to pay, by ACH/routing+account number or pay by bitcoin. I choose ACH (no option for Plaid). This is around 4pm.

I get an email confirmation it's paid for. It also says there's no option for delivery and I need to come into the dealership to pick it up, so that wasn't happening I guess either.

-- March 25 --

The next day, March 25, I check my bank account and see two processing payments for the Model 3 at $53k. So I'm charged a total of $107k. I also log into Tesla's account, and I see the payment twice there too.

I then email my sales advisor J to let him know what's up, and then call Tesla to ask what's up, and they see it and said they're going to fix it and to call back later in the day. I call back later, and it's still in-progress, so the new customer service person then assigns the ticket to someone to fix. They also asked if I clicked the button twice or refreshed, which felt like a customer-service-101-no-no.

I then call "J" but I get an auto-response that he can't talk. I finally get a hold of him at end of the day. He says he sees that there's a duplicate payment, and one that occurred at 4pm, and then (mysteriously) another one at 11pm.

-- March 26 --

I enter Tesla's chat support in the morning to see what's up. I explain the issue, and they said they see it and it will get refunded. They also say a sales advisor will call me back with more details. I ask for the name of the sales advisor, or confirmation # or anything details, but they don't give me anything. Of course, no one calls me back later in the day.

I called "J" again, and received the auto-response "I can't talk right now"

So at this point, I'll be picking my car up on Sunday. I'll ask them again what's up, and they'll probably give me the run around, and tell me to wait till next week and it should be refunded. I haven't gotten any email or any information to confirm that that's what they'll be doing.

I'm definitely giving the benefit of the doubt, bc of the pandemic etc. And I do believe it is a mistake, but it's a big one. And it has thrown me in a loop regarding the lux brand they have.

How do you log in to tesla account and see two payments? How does that look? Can u attach a screen shot? I logged in and only see “payment made” but not the duplicate charge. In my case i refused delivery of my model Y and ordered a model 3 same day. Next day after delivery refusal i saw not just one but two ACH debits (a duplicate also). So i was charged 80,000 + for a short range model y i never received.

It’s not on the Tesla account you would have to speak to someone and they can look it up.

wow sorry man. Not sure when this will get resolved. I saw 2 withdrawals on my bank account is how I know

Thanks man! I can think of a few ways Tesla could make this up to us and doesnt cost them anything. Maybe free autopilot/speed boost? At least you got a car. I have no car and got charged twice! And same run around. Nobody could help except they are looking into it with NO ETA of when money comes back. I will email the funding people you emailed also.

all the above is related to a short range model y i refused delivery on. Basically nobody should pay via ACH because at that point if you refuse delivery you get charged anyways and sometimes twice.

The replacment model 3 i ordered comes next week and they are asking me to pay for it with new funds not my funds they are already in possession of!

maybe this is related to them pushing “sales” numbers before quarter ends.

i found it curious that my model 3 which was in “production” is arriving within 6 days of when i ordered it. I ordered the model 3 on 3/24/21 and my pick up is scheduled for 3/30/21 yet on 3/24/21 i was told its still in “production”. This mean people have no wait time on a model 3.

A therapist - chillax! 1) Tesla will only let you put a downpayment on a credit card ($56K?? I don't believe it) and 2) no way 2 charges went through that quick - the duplicate will drop off within a few days. I'm sure they both show as "pending" now....
Nope. In my case both charges went through my money is gone. Whats worse. I never got the car. I refused delivery. And even worse? I ordered a model 3 instead and they are asking me to pay for it ....delivery is in 2 days and they cant use the funds they already took from me. No ETA on when money comes back. Just they are working on it.

make me rethink ACH. Not a safe way to do transactions at all. Can a company just take whatever amount it wants??

Your bank reverses duplicated ACHs, speak to them, not Tesla.

I did they said they have to open a fraud case, close my account, then they ask Tesla for the money. She said it would take even longer than Tesla refunding you directly, not too happy with my bank, ally.
no, the person you spoke with at Ally is wrong. Call them back, ask for a supervisor, explain that Tesla withdrew the same amount, on the same day and that it is a duplicate ACH and that you want it reversed.
