Dual Charger for Facelifted Model S

No, the facelifted Model S comes with the 48A charger and you can't add one of the old 40A style ones as a secondary. But our understanding is that you can software upgrade all the 48A chargers to 72A; for a fee of course.

The Dual Charger was 2 40 amp chargers, I dont under stand your point if you wanted dual chargers it would be 80 amps 72 is less than 80 if the circuit is designed for 80 amps it will work for 72.

My Model S would delivery in Mid-June, and it will be a facelifted Model S, as far as I know, the charger onboard is rated 48Amp, however, due to lack of charging station for home use in Hong Kong, I would like to install dual charger into my model S if it is available

Actually, each charger in the HK Spec Model S used to be 16A 3-phase (11kW) so dual chargers were 32A 3-ph (22kW). Since the 48A/72A charger originated in the North American Spec Model X, we can only guess what they will do for the HK/UK/AUS/EU Spec Model S that has 3-phase input. If I had to guess, they will have 24A 3-ph (16kW) if you pay for the "upgrade" otherwise it will run at 16A 3-ph (11kW). Based on the North American Model S Design Studio, it looks like they are putting the 72A charger in all the cars and allowing software upgrade upon payment if you didn't configure and pay for it initially.

Thanks for your reply, unfortunately, in Hong Kong, we do not have the option to upgrade to 72A charger

If you're scheduled for delivery mid-June, there is a good chance you have one of the last classic Model Ss built. What does your delivery specialist say? If you can't get any answers there, what was the manufacture date.
