I think people that love Elon consider Twitter to be much better than before. Those that don't like Elon or are skeptical of his intentions think it is worse than before. Elon's Twitter is basically a social media Rorschach Test. People see what they want to see whether it is there or not.

Yep, you are correct. People view things through their political "glasses". There was a CNN Poll that bore this out about 1-2 weeks ago.

I think that it is a mistake for the owner of such a site to promote one set of glasses over another, no matter which ones they are. I think Elon has overly politicized things, and I don't like that. It has also spilled over a bit from Twitter to Tesla, and I really don't like that.

Semantics. Notice how he said REPUBLICANS?

You are trying to dodge that point that from everything they can find, ALL REQUESTS for content interventions came from Democrats.
That post says the election enforcement Slack didn't have requests, but earlier in the thread he said other tools have been used by both sides to remove content:

The main point however is that even if all content removals in all of Twitter's tools were only requested by Democrats (appears to not be true from above), there was no violation of first amendment or other rights. A private organization is allowed to be biased, otherwise a lot of media wouldn't exist today.

Which could indicate that the vast majority of violations of the Terms of Service were coming from the other side. In what Universe is requests for taking down revenge porn seen as a bad/incriminating thing? In a sane world it would be the people who posted the revenge porn who should be shamed, not the ones who requested it be taken down.

Or, the Dems were just using it as a political tool because they had sympathetic ears in the employees of Twitter that they could go to.

Much simpler explanation for how thousands of Dem requests were processed and none from Reps can even be found . . .

How far the mighty have fallen ... from bombshell smoking guns to wild unsubstantiated conjecture.

It was reported that requests were made by both sides. The selective releases were made in dubious circumstances by a person who has already taken sides and has planted a flag. Do you have evidence that the releases were even-handed and not intended to make one side look bad? You clearly assume this but do you have any evidence that it's true?

I repeat, revenge porn should reflect poorly on the people who posted it, not on those who asked for it to be taken down, even if they had to ask 1,000 times. Why do you avoid talking about the scant facts we do have and choose instead to drift off into wild assumption and conjecture? The only reason I can see is the facts don't support your story but wild conjecture does.

Assuming Elon is not incompetent and he is not sandbagging then, if anything, the facts in the Twitter File releases exonerate the Dems (akin to praise by faint damnation) leaving the other side to make wild assumptions and conjectures in order to score points.

If you have facts and citations to back up your claims, I'd very much like to see them. Otherwise you might want to quit while you're behind and stop digging.

I'm just listing out what's been tweeted. If you think I'm picking a "side" in this dumbassery, you are mistaken. Look (way) back in this thread, I'm actually a "centrist" by the objective measurements, and consider both the left and right about as equally corrupt as Tonya Harding. Both sides are idiots with rock piles, living in glass houses. I don't have much of a bone to pick in this thread, one way or another. Elon's going to be Elon, and the hand wringing here isn't going to change things one damned bit. It is entertaining, however, to watch people think that their screaming and virtue signaling are going to change what he does, or that their condemnation of such matters in the least.

I will occasionally come in, toss a hand grenade by quoting something in the official releases or something else that challenges preconceptions (i.e. the Dems were always right in their takedown requests and they were completely wholesome in their motives - HA HA HA) and then sit back with popcorn and watch all parties heads explode. Mission accomplished.

I want to see the full files released (all millions and millions of them, by report). Right now, we have one journalist saying something along the lines of "most of the requests came from Democrats", and then another saying that the "Slack Channel" didn't show any requests at all by Republicans. They are not mutually exclusive, as Slack is a back-end communication system in this case for employees to discuss things (were Rep requests that boring? who knows).

I also am reserving judgement on Elon and Twitter till 12 months after the purchase. I've bought about a dozen companies, small ones of course, and it takes a good while to implement change after you take over.

I also consider it mission accomplished when @mach-edriver gives me a thumbs down. I've hit a nerve successfully. 😂

Today I had to remove the qualifications ‘drama queen’, ‘nut gobblers’ and ’sucking on Elon's balls’ (the last one being described as ‘relatively mild language’ by the poster above). Anyone who feels this is the correct way of engaging with other members is perhaps better off somewhere else.

Rhetorical question: how much longer do you guess this thread will last?

Elon is collecting an interesting group of free speech advocates

From there she continues the slow realization that she isn’t winning jack *sugar* in this nonexistent case for her special First Amendment right to make everybody, passengers and crew, feel frustrated and miserable about her current state. “Oh I love Elon Musk, he is the best. Elon!” which elicits some giggles from passengers as it is a truly new level of incoherence.

I have a hypothesis: Elon Musk (I postulate) has been using amphetamines or maybe cocaine (the rich man's amphetamine) to keep up his very intense work schedule, and has finally begun to succumb to the psychosis that such drugs inevitably induce when taken for long enough. His behavior at Twitter is erratic and illogical. Just my hypothesis. He seems likely to crash Twitter. I just hope he doesn't crash Tesla and SpaceX also. It's always dangerous when one person has absolute control over anything with a wide impact on society. If Twitter disappeared tomorrow the world would be a very slightly better place. If Tesla disappeared it would be a very much worse place.

But hey, these people might be new Tesla buyers!

This couple represents a large swath of American numbskullery.

Just yesterday on my drive home I trailed a Lincoln sedan with the following bumper strips covering both the bumper and the trunk.

Fluoride: Poison on tap

Jail Fauci

Jail Bill Gates

Media: the real virus

COVID is a hoax

and 3 or 4 more I can’t remember.

I have no doubt on which side that driver came down on the Twitter Truth and Transparency crusade.

Elon basically promoting the idea that many former twitter employees were apologists for child abuse. This is basically a continuation of Qanon/pizzagate type conspiracy theories. Although he has tried to spare his friend, Jack Dorsey, from the insinuations, it looks like Jack has sustained some collateral damage if you read the commentary on Twitter.

Oh yes, even seen vids on Tiktok tearing down Jack.....poor Elon, threw his friend under the bus all so he could whine on Twitter. He's not some hero, a hero would have bought the company and gotten out of sight.

I agree about getting out of sight. To me, exposing all this stuff makes Elon look stupid for buying Twitter in the first place.

Just me or does anyone else support/want idiots like this to simply be banned from all airlines if they do stupid stuff? The airlines should actually work together to kick troublemakers to the curb and simply stop them all from flying. They can drive for all I care. There is no 1st amendment to fly on a private company's airline if you're an idiot.

Course, these folks will now claim I'm cancelling someone when in reality, these 'customers' are bad for business if they delay/block/stop every single damn flight and businesses are simply using their own rights to not serve problem customers.

My point again where I don't care much about rich people nowadays. Just because you're rich doesn't mean you should be a douche like this passenger was. Sometimes, I think being rich has a lot to being lucky as well, but that's me (being in America already gives you a huge advantage for people/companies).

I don’t see how this is even tangentially related to Tesla.

It's probably not and mods can delete my post if needed. I tend to pop in after a few pages and see something I want to comment on and that's that.

I'd be happy if mods just shut this thread down personally, but folks seem to enjoy the time wasting and back and forth here so there you go (and why it's still going). It's all pointless discussion/argument IMO. Things discussed now were the same stuff 200 pages ago.

Stupid is ok and would not be a big deal. This is grotesque. This is brand damaging to Tesla…even considering that he may win over some people with this behavior.
I earlier made the analogy of the guy who made a fortune in ball bearings and then buys a nightclub so he can hold court in the VIP room nightly.

While that might’ve been the original motivation, as Musk has been pursuing his roll-out of misinformation and disinformation and manufactured controversy, it’s become more like the ball bearing magnate who spends his nights in the VIP room spilling drinks and pinching waitresses.
