Twitter will favour the right for a few years but not a bad thing to counterbalance the media. Community notes being balanced could mean Twitter is trusted by both sides in the long term - that would be immense.

More useful would be a fourth trend line for people who are grounded in facts, science etc. But I guess we already know what that one would show.

Some good content on Twitter is going away.

Elon Musk killed the good bots
While unpaid access came with limits and high-volume users are already charged, now anyone who wants to use the API will have to pay.

The decision is Elon Musk’s latest effort to increase revenue since he bought the company last year. But the move could diminish the Twitter experience for many users, and ultimately have the opposite effect.
...
Already, operators of automated accounts — from one that provides descriptive text of images for visually-impaired users to another that automatically shares images from the Frog & Toad books — say they will likely cease operating rather than pay for what had previously been a labor of love. Academics, too, rely on the free API to study the behavior of Twitter users, and ending it could mean less transparency and clarity about what happens online.
...
“Twitter killing the API behind a paywall will accelerate the loss of valuable content on this platform (many of the most effective and unique content creators publish via the API), while abusive bots will continue to go around the API, as always,” Anil Dash, a tech entrepreneur and long-time Twitter user, wrote on the platform.

This is a fight worth fighting for Elon.

It’s truly incredible how fast and how aggressive the push toward crybully groupthink culture spread and it is no longer sustainable to continue with a live and let live approach to it.

It is a cancer and should be treated as such, that’s the motivation and I support EM’s ventures in aid of eradicating it.
Absolutely disagree.
People take stuff too seriously. Every day they need to channel their anger yet project it to social media to gain an excuse for their behavioral ritual.
Twitter is pushing this narrative to the extreme. A Hydra.

And contrary to your romantic ideal it will never be eradicable and being Don Quichote is oldschool, right?

It’s not just the important posts such as cat pictures, but the little things like natural catastrophe, environmental, and health alerts, too! 🙁

Some popular accounts likely to disappear from Twitter as Elon Musk ends free access to API

Weather, environment and health trackers

Earthquake bots and other accounts set up to post automatic updates on the weather, environment or health issues such as Covid can be extremely useful. They generally work by scraping data from other sites and automatically tweeting it using the Twitter API.

Often they’re run on a volunteer basis, and not-for-profit, so they could also be in trouble following the changes.

Jury sucks. What does "funding secured" mean if there's not a deal on paper?

Court trials have very little to do with facts. Or justice. A court proceeding is a debating contest between opposing lawyers or teams of lawyers. The outcome is determined by which side has the better lawyer(s). Court procedure, designed to assure justice, is so arcane and convoluted that the court no longer cares about right and wrong, guilt or innocence, or facts, and only about its own mandated procedures. It's why our jails and prisons are stuffed to the gills with people too poor to pay for a good lawyer.

The outcome of this case demonstrated that Musk has better lawyers than the plaintiffs had. That's the only thing that any court case ever determines.

Charge stacking and the inevitable plea bargains have a lot to do with this. The state doesn’t have to try very hard to bankrupt your average schmoe in legal costs.

In a truly fair system both parties would have equal representation, that includes the state.
