23 MY, is it ok to try the emergency door release, or would I risk damage to the door glass or anything else?
The manual isn't clear on this, other than saying that I should only use the mechanical release in an emergency.
I've had more than one passenger "try" the emergency door release their first time in the car, because for some reason they decided that was the way to open the door instead of the clearly marked button on the handle.
So yes, it's fine. It's not going to damage anything if you do it once or twice.
As long as there is 12V battery power, the window behaves exactly like pressing the normal door button. The window rolls down slightly and the door opens. Its only when there is no power that the window doesnt roll down and then breaks.
