Yes, the escort was designed to work through windshields even with thermal insulation. It comes with a very nice suction cup that allows you to suck the air out to make a nice seal.

Sorry to be negative. But I don't believe the claim about it seeing through a metallic coating as well as doing an outside mount. And how does it compare to a 9500ci? Yes, that is much more expensive.

Yes, it's would be interesting to see how this Escort is able to receive radar at a reasonable range through the front windshield when other detectors, including Escort, cannot.

But it what I found interesting is that they are advertising directional arrows, which had been a Valentine One unique feature. Wonder if their patents expired?

I was wondering the same thing. V1 has had directional arrows for some time. It wouldn't surprise me if their patents have now expired. If that's the case, it's bad news for V1, in my opinion. I've found V1 to be less and less a forerunner over the past 15 years or so. I'd go so far as to say that their performance has slipped so thoroughly that their directional arrows were their only remaining selling point.

Yes patents ran out in 2011, they took their time to perfect the technology rather than rushing it out. This is the radar to buy now on the market if you need a portable unit.

And word if we are getting closer to receiving the units from the pre-order?
Escort announced today, that their supply (purchased direct) is off backorder, at least for a little while.

Anxiously awaiting. Thanks!

When we spoke we were told end of November. We will definitely check again next week Tuesday to see if there are any changes and then let you know if there are any.

I agree. I would like to fully understand how a radio receiver (which is basically what a radar detector is) can compensate for a metallic coating that is known to dampen radio signals very significantly. Do you or Escort have any verifiable stats and studies explaining this and how they are able to negate it? I have been looking for a quality alternative to my V1, which I have in the nose cone. Works really well on fwd radar and laser. But I have lost rear view radar. I would rather not drop the cost for the 9500ci plus install, if possible.

Thanks.

This. There's another owner telling about the same expected result in another section. Why spend all this money on a great detector and gimp it down by putting it behind metallic film? There's always a possibility that magic is involved, here. ;)
