Evtripplanner Down?

Thanks to everyone who explained the situation to me. It is appreciated.

It is regrettable that with all the technical advancements that have occurred that error messages cannot be more precise in notifying users what the issue(s) is/are with what we are trying to do.

I can get to the site and log in and it gets my latest trip but it won't load the Google map.

I'm now having the same problem. Can't get to the site with the URL and when I use the IP address I can't get Google Maps.

Another workaround is to edit the hosts file on your computer and add entries for:

• www.evtripplanner.com
• evtripplanner.com

The reason I am a little hesitant is that if the server moves and you forget you edited the hosts file, you will never be able to reach it again (until you edit it again). Also, it seems to be considered hacking by many, including this forum. When I tries posting a howto with steps how to do that, I got this message:

Apparently they have only opened up the Google Maps API to the evtripplanner.com and NOT to the ip address.

Not necessarily. It's more likely that in the webpage code there are references to evtripplanner.com rather than IP address, hence the problem.
