Use a NJ licensed electrician preferably Tesla recommended (I used Sure Electric in Marlboro 732-834-0445)
They were excellent. They applied for my local permits and filled out and submitted the required load/data form to PSE&G.
You will also need to upload the electrical installation invoice.
Yea they did our permits too the town needs to come and inspect it first. I think they give me one of those papers when they do.

I think I may have to wait since they just did service Monday. I wish I could private message on here. I also did use a Tesla authorized from their site.

Does yours shows Approved on the EV portal page?
This is the current status, same as before.

On the job status page it shows below now

On the EV portal, the status is now “Qualified “ albeit in green color from red earlier. Also received email from pseg that I am now enrolled in the EV charging rebate program

FINALLY! The credit is on the pseg acct. Took full 2 months from initial application to see the credit on pseg account

Awesome! Thanks for updating. Looks like I'll have another month to wait.

I reached out to my electrical company and they said “You would need to apply for approval, once approved send us the email and associated attachement sent from PSE&G and there would be a fee on our end of $85.00 to process,”

I’m confused… don’t I neee documentation to send? Also can someone please tell me what they put for the power rating on the application ?

You apply on the EV Portal yourself and attach the bill from your electrician, the permit approval from the town and a picture of the installation. Your electrician would fill out the residential load data inquiry form and submit it to PSEG.

Your NJ licensed electrician needs to fill out and submit the required Load/Data form to PSE&G.
You need to submit and upload the installation cost invoice from the electrician as well as proof of the permit approval.

We have two Tesla’s and use our home charger (ChargePoint Flex on a 50 amp hook up) almost exclusively for charging. I just got my first Electric usage update from PSE&G which includes the most recent month since we added our 2nd Tesla. Actually, I’m pleasantly surprised by the small increase in my electric bill stating that my use was about $28/ month higher than a year ago. No surprise that my usage is slightly above the average for homes in my area. In the meantime, I haven’t paid a PSE&G bill in 4 months as my credit from my installation rebate is now just about fully exhausted. This sure beats what I would have spent on Gas for our two former ICE vehicles over the past few months!

Finally received PSEG NJ EV charger BTM credit the day after engineering review completion which was 3 months in review. Has anyone using Tesla Wall connector receiving off-peak credit from PSEG NJ or it is still installation credit only? If yes what is process to submit off-peak data for Tesla WC - PSEG say I am enrolled. Thank You.

I didn't know you could receive a check. My rebate was as a credit on my utility bill which was fine.

Spat, I don't have the Tesla charger so I'm not sure if the process is different than for my Chargepoint home charger. I didn't have to do anything to get the off-peak charge credit on my bill.

Can I apply after the charger installation? I am trying to find the steps I need to follow and here is what I found. It looks like I will need to wait for the approval in Step 5 before the installation?

Step 1: Customer reviews Eligibility Requirements and submits an application through the EV Portal.
Step 2: The customer may receive an email stating that they qualify for the EV Charging Program. Once qualified, the customer must continue following the below steps to become fully enrolled in the EV Charging Program.
Step 3: If qualified, the customer will receive electric service upgrade form(s). The form(s) will need to be completed by the customer’s electrician and emailed to [email protected]. This step starts the New Business Process, which is required to review any new or changed load, such as the installation of an EV smart charger.
Step 4: After PSE&G engineers evaluate the customer’s application, a New Business Representative will determine if a service upgrade is needed. If so, the customer will be advised if there is a cost to provide this service upgrade. The EV Charging Program USMR offset will already be factored into this cost estimate, thereby lowering or eliminating any cost for which the customer is responsible.
  • If no service upgrade is required, the New Business Process is complete and the customer may proceed to the next step.
  • If a service upgrade is required, the customer will need to submit any required payment to initiate PSE&G’s service upgrade work. The New Business Representative will subsequently notify the customer when the service upgrade work is done and the New Business Process is complete.
Step 5: After the New Business Process is completed, the customer proceeds with the EV smart charger installation.
Step 6: After the EV smart charger is installed, the customer uploads all required documents to the EV Portal. Please see the FAQ below for the full list of required documents.
Step 7: The PSE&G EV Team will review and approve the customer’s documents. If information is missing, the EV Team will contact the customer to inform them. All documentation must be reviewed and approved by the EV Team before proceeding to the next step.
Step 8: Once all required documents are received and approved, the customer will be enrolled in the EV Charging Program and the EV Team will issue a CSMR incentive, which is reimbursement for eligible customer-side costs. The credit will be applied to the customer’s bill within one to two billing cycles.
Step 9: Once enrolled in the EV Charging Program, residential customers using a smart charger from the PSE&G approved smart charger list (see eligibility requirements above) are eligible to receive a Residential Off-Peak Credit. Depending on the device the customer has installed, an additional step may be required to connect the charging device to the data-sharing network; the PSE&G EV Team will communicate directly with the customer if this additional step is required. Once the PSE&G EV Team begins receiving charging data through the smart charger, the Residential Off-Peak Credit will be issued on the following monthly bill.
