Franchising potential?

I was debating with a multi franchise owner about Tesla and how it should allow for franchising Tesla service centers. I understand the whole dealership believe that Tesla goes through and it has its ups and downs. But having this option of franchising available will allow for more Tesla service centers in more remote places and also states that have lobbied against Tesla. What do you guys think?

Tesla's experience with independent body shops was awful. Franchising would just be lipstick on a pig.

if it’s like body shops (caliber collision has taken over) or auto dealers (Penske, other large auto groups), then no thanks.

I do think they need more right to repair and independents enabled.

And there will be a cottage industry around shops unlocking software on cars.

Great idea.
As a mechanic I can see many upsides.
It is bound to happen sooner or later anyway when the present system reaches its limits.

For servicing* I like the mobile tech idea a bunch. Saves me from having to drive two hours to the nearest Service Center.

*assuming no need to put car on lift
